HOW TO FIX GALAXY S20 FE/S21 FE WIRELESS CHARGING ISSUE



Wireless charging not working on your Samsung Galaxy S20 FE or S21 FE? If you
are experiencing wireless charging issue with your Galaxy S20 FE/S21 FE, here
are some reasons that may affect wireless charging on your device.

 * Phone is not placed properly on the wireless charging pad
 * Headphones or other accessory is connected to your phone while charging
 * Using incompatible third-party phone cases, covers or protectors
 * Damaged or incompatible wireless charger
 * Damaged charging cable or power adapter
 * Software issue, etc

This article proposes some effective solutions to help you troubleshoot and fix
wireless charging issue on your Samsung Galaxy S20 FE or S21 FE. Read on.


HOW TO FIX WIRELESS CHARGING ISSUE ON SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 FE AND S21 FE

Here are some effective tips to fix wireless charging not working issue on your
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE or S21 FE.




1. CHECK THE CHARGING CABLE AND POWER ADAPTER

Sometimes a defective charging cable or a power adapter could be the reason for
why wireless charging is not working in the first place. The current has to
reach your wireless charger through the power adapter and the cable, therefore
make sure those are working fine before you decide to check anything else. Also,
make sure to use only the adapter and the cable that came with your phone or
wireless charger.


2. CHECK THE PORT ON YOUR WIRELESS CHARGER

If you are sure there is no problem with the power adapter and the cable, check
if there aren’t any dirt or debris on the wireless charging port that could be
blocking the current from passing to your wireless charger.



If it seems dirty, use a toothpick to clean the debris off the port, then take a
piece of cotton dampen with alcohol solution and wrap it around the toothpick,
then gently wipe the interior of the port with it to ensure the remaining pieces
of debris is cleaned properly from the port. Now, get a dry cotton and wipe
again the areas around the port and the interior to remove any remaining moist.


3. CHECK IF WIRELESS CHARGING IS ENABLED

Although, the wireless charging option is enabled by default but it may have got
turned off inadvertently and that could be the reason why wireless charging is
not working for you.



To check if wireless charging is enabled, follow the steps below.

 * Go to Settings
 * Tap on Device care
 * Tap on Battery
 * Tap on Charging
 * Toggle Fast wireless charging to ON if not already


4. DISABLE FAST CABLE CHARGING

If you notice your wireless charging is not stable and seem to turn on and off
while charging, it may be that fast cable charging option is enabled on your
phone which tries to switch the charging mode between fast cable charging and
fast wireless charging. Try turning the feature off and see if that fixes the
problem.

Here’s how you can turn off fast cable charging.


 * Go to Settings
 * Tap on Device care
 * Tap on Battery
 * Tap on Charging
 * Toggle Fast Charging to Off


5. TURN ON WIRELESS POWERSHARE

The Wireless Powershare feature turns your phone into a wireless charger
allowing you to wirelessly charge another wireless device like Galaxy Watch or
Galaxy Buds+. If Wireless Powershare is not working for you, check if the
feature is enabled on your device. If it is not, you can turn it on by pulling
down the quick settings panel and tapping on the Wireless Powershare icon to
enable the feature.

Wireless Powershare has a battery limit that will stop the charging when the
battery level reaches a certain percentage. If you want to adjust battery limit
for Wireless Powershare, here’s how to do that.


 * Go to Settings
 * Tap on Device care
 * Tap on Battery
 * Tap on Wireless Powershare
 * Scroll down and tap Battery limit
 * Set the battery limit and you are done


6. PLACE THE PHONE IN THE CENTER OF THE CHARGER

Sometimes a slight movement or misalignment in the position can break the
wireless connection between your phone and the charging pad. This will stop the
transfer of power from the charger to your phone. Make sure your phone is placed
in the center of the charging pad and there is no obstruction between your phone
and the wireless charger.


7. REMOVE CASE, SKINS, OR PROTECTORS FROM YOUR PHONE

Sometimes the use of phone cases, skins or protectors can interfere and obstruct
the flow of current from the wireless charger to your phone. Try removing them
and see if that resolves the problem.


8. DISCONNECT ACCESSORIES FROM YOUR PHONE

If headphones or any accessories are connected to your phone, it could block the
phone from charging. Disconnect the accessories and see if that fixes the
charging problem. Also, do not use your phone while it is wirelessly charging as
that may interfere with the charging process.


9. USE SAMSUNG APPROVED WIRELESS CHARGER

If you are using third party wireless charger, it may not not work or be too
weak to charge your phone so make sure it is approved by Samsung and supports Qi
wireless charging standard.


10. REBOOT THE PHONE

Sometimes random system errors can cause problems and hamper with certain
features of your device including the wireless charging functionality. To clear
this out, try rebooting your phone and then check if the issue resolves.


11. WIPE THE SYSTEM CACHE

A system cache that is corrupted may also affect your wireless charging
functionality. To make sure this isn’t the case, try wiping the existing cache
and see if that clears the problem.

Here’s how to clear the system cache partition.

 * Turn off the device
 * Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby/Power key.
 * Continue to hold both keys until Android Recovery menu options appear
 * Press the Volume down key and navigate to Wipe cache partition
 * Press Bixby/Power key to select
 * Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Bixby/Power key to
   select
 * When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted
 * Press the Bixby/Power key to restart the device.


12. RESET THE PHONE

If the problem still persists even after trying all the above tips, the next
solution involves resetting your phone to factory settings. However, this
procedure will erase all your data so perform a backup if possible before
proceeding with the reset operation.





 * Turn off your device (Press and hold Power/Bixby button and Volume down key
   together until the Power Menu appears, then tap the Power off to turn off the
   device)
 * Now press and hold the Power/Bixby and Volume Up keys for few seconds
 * When the device logo is displayed, release the keys and wait until the
   Recovery menu appears
 * Use the Volume Down key to highlight and select “Wipe data/factory reset“
 * Press the Power/Bixby key to select the option
 * Use the Volume Down button and highlight Factory data reset option
 * Press the Power/Bixby key to proceed
 * After the factory reset completes, you will see the recovery menu again.
 * Select Reboot System Now and press Power/Bixby key to restart the device


13. CONTACT SAMSUNG SUPPORT

This is your last resort if all other solutions fail to fix the issue. Most
likely, the problem could be hardware issue with your phone or a damaged
wireless charger. To make sure of that, take both your phone and the wireless
charger to your local Samsung care center for a closer inspection of the devices
and to get further necessary assistance on the issue.
