JOSHQUM - THE 8 YEARS GANG ARTIST

EMRAH COSKUN IS A MULTIFACETED GERMAN MUSICIAN AND ARTIST WITH TURKISH ROOTS WHO
WILL LAUNCH HIS NEXT NFT COLLECTION, 8 YEARS GANG, ON THE INTERNET COMPUTER
BLOCKCHAIN.




Known in the art world as JOSHQUM, Coskun is the creator of several NFT projects
such as iistronauts, Hybrids, and the exclusive Tyrant Turtles. All collections
have been created solely by Emrah.




Coskun loves oriental rock music and has been into art since he was a child. He
is passionate about the Internet Computer (IC) blockchain and hopes to use his
NFT proceeds to finance an on-chain project to help musicians.




Here is the full interview with the amazing JOSHQUM.




1. When did you realize that you want to become an artist?




In my childhood, I was generally very talented in painting and drawing, that's
why I won an art competition, which took place for students in elementary
schools. This success was the beginning of my future motivation to design more
diverse drawings.




2. How did you start as an artist?




From 2009-2012 I created simple logo designs and business cards for companies as
a freelancer. Since 2013 I have been very interested in digital artwork, so I
tested many tools for my designs. When I published my songs, I remarked that I
needed to create impressive videos or animations to catch more people. So I
created many designs and animations for my songs, and I was able to finance my
studies with them. Today I'm working with professional software, which lets me
discover new dimensions in my art and myself. 




3. Also you are a music producer, what are your influences and favorite
artists/musicians?




Very different songs from different countries have influenced me a lot. As a
German with Turkish roots, I was interested in the singers and songs of both
countries, but also international ones. Linkin Park, Rammstein, Emre Aydin, and
Grup 84 have shaped me a lot (with a dominant impact). I've been producing songs
since 2009. I taught myself everything from songwriting, composition,
pre-production, recording, and post-production to mixing and mastering.




4. When did you start to approach NFT works and digital art?




Since 2020, but much earlier than NFTs even existed. After becoming interested
in blockchain technology and decentralized applications in 2017, I came across
NFTs. I was always looking for a fair solution for artists and singers.
Currently, songs and artworks are easily copied and downloaded on Web2.
Unfortunately, it is still the case today that the hard work of artists is
underestimated. Web3 can and should change that. NFTs could be the solution. I
am convinced of that.




5. How did you hear about the Internet Computer? Why choose to create your
collections on the IC blockchain?




I've known about the Internet Computer since its Genesis launch in May last
year. Since then I've been active in the IC community. I am very impressed with
IC because the technology is simply mature. It's a revolution in blockchain
technology. This is the reason why I chose IC and will run my collections and
projects on this blockchain.




6. Can you tell us more about your NFT collections?




I want to dedicate my NFT collections specifically to the Internet Computer
community. 




With my iistronauts collection on Entrepot, I want to focus on “Internet
Identity”, because I think this dApp is very important. When logging into
Internet Identity, an astronaut appears that rotates while the application
loads. This astronaut inspired me. I renamed the astronaut to iistronaut and
enhanced the look. There are different astronauts from cute to normal. I hope
I've made the IC community happy with this.




7. What is your expectation about the 8 Years Gang collection you will soon
launch? Can you tell us more about this collection?




First of all, I would point out that I am a proud owner of a locked 8-year
“neuron” on NNS. From the beginning of creating collections on the Internet
Computer, I noticed the necessity to create a collection for 8-year neuron
owners in addition to iistronaut's collection for Internet Identity.




The skull is meant to symbolize the gang's funniness. From common to legendary
skulls, there are a total of 2920 gang members. I deliberately chose 2920
because 8 years equals 2920 days.




I'm donating 292 of them to my community on DSCVR as an airdrop and I'm proud to
make this collection available to the ICP community. With the income from the
launchpad and fees, I will finance my following project on Internet Computer.




8. What are the next projects are you involved in or would like to start?




I would like to start a project on IC and offer all singers a platform where
they can make their albums/singles available as NFTs – a fair music marketplace
for bands, singers, and their fans. There will be more details on this soon.




9. Any motto or phrase in your life that inspires you? Any recommendation to a
new young artist that starts as an artist/musician? 




If you have ideas, you should try to realize them without hesitation. Because
there is no time in life to hesitate.
