Hey, Lorraine,

You have proven that you need and deserve to be at the table when the issues
facing our children must be addressed. Now, I'm asking for your support to give
kids more hours at the Club. For kids, one hour at the Club means more
confidence, more resilience, and more compassion as they face today's most
pressing issues. Let's give them 5,000 more hours by the end of the month—are
you with me?

Today, I am helping open the 5,000th Boys & Girls Club. I'll be in South Elgin,
Illinois, to celebrate, but most importantly, I'll be with the kids who call
this new Club their second home.

Yes, this is a huge milestone—but it is so much more—it's a commitment to
continue doing whatever it takes for today's young people. Together, let's help
give kids 5,000 more hours at the Club by raising $50,000 by the end of this
month.

It costs $10 to give one child an hour at the Boys & Girls Club — but what does
an hour at the Club really mean?

It means an hour of help with homework to ace a test.

It means a warm, nutritious meal — maybe the only one of the day.

It means time with a caring adult to build confidence.

For me, $10 is all it took for me to realize my potential.

When I was a kid at the Club, one of the staff said to me: "With your smarts,
you could be anything you want to be." I had never heard anybody say that to me.
I remember leaving the Club thinking I could be a fireman, the president. In
that hour—that was the first time I realized I could be anything. Let's give
kids more hours and more champions like that.
