DITTE BJERREGAARD




Since founding the Center for Violence Prevention in 2019. I have been dedicated
to supporting victims of violence through advocating for free access to therapy
and fast access to protection, including changes to laws, such as Denmark's
landmark 2021 consent-based rape law. 

In my daily work I lead organizational development, fundraising, manage a
passionate team of staff and volunteers, and oversee transformative projects 

Beyond Denmark, my work focuses on expanding civic space across the EU by
advancing civil society engagement, policy reform, and sustainable funding
mechanisms for non-profit organizations. In collaboration with 50+ human rights
defenders from 19 EU countries and 40+ CSOs across Europe, we are advocating for
an EU Strategy for Civil Society that promotes the recognition, inclusion, and
protection of civil society organizations. A key part of this effort is
supporting the proposed Directive on European Cross-Border Associations (ECBAs),
which would allow CSOs operating in multiple EU member states to establish a
single legal entity, granting them free movement and simplifying cross-border
operations.
