WE CAN HELP

Chiropractic is all about helping your body function and heal at its best.

CHIROPRACTIC

Chiropractic is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of muscular and skeletal
pain, with an emphasis on the symmetry and balance of the entire human body. Our
chiropractors focus not only on the injured area but the contributing factors of
the presenting condition.

Traditionally chiropractors would only treat the spine, at Back in Focus our
modern chiropractic approach allows for the treatment of all joints and muscles
in your body.

Chiropractic means ‘done by hand’. As such, we utilise hands-on approach in
conjunction with lifestyle advice about movement to treat and prevent
dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system. Our hands-on approach involves
targeting and relaxing soft tissues in the areas of concerns to allow more
effective spinal or joint adjustment/manipulation.

PAIN RELIEF SOLUTIONS

Some of the common treatment techniques that our chiropractors utitlise include:

 * Spinal and joint adjustment / manipulation
 * Spinal and joint mobilisation
 * Soft tissue massage
 * Trigger point therapy and active release technique (applying direct sustained
   pressure to the problem area)
 * Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM / Graston)
 * Dry needling
 * Shockwave therapy
 * Electrotherapy (TENs / interferential therapy, ultrasound therapy)
 * Taping / strapping
 * Therapeutic exercise and stretches
 * Ergonomic, lifestyle and behaviour modification advice

Dr Hue Huynh

Chiropractor

I graduated with a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Master of Chiropractic
degree from Macquarie University. Since then, I have treated a range of
patients, including athletes, office workers, manual laborers, busy mums,
children, and the elderly. Over the years I have provided chiropractic services
to many communities throughout Sydney but am now giving back to my South-West
Sydney community. I can speak Vietnamese fluently, allowing me to provide
chiropractic care to those who are of a non-English speaking Vietnamese
background.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is joint adjustment/manipulation and how can it help?

An adjustment or manipulation is one of the many techniques used by our highly
skilled chiropractors (and physiotherapists) used to restore movements to joints
that are not moving correctly. This could be a spinal joint or another joint in
your body. A very specific contact is applied followed by a quick and highly
accurate thrust. With adjustments a ‘pop’ or ‘click’ may be heard.

Chiropractic adjustments are safe for all ages. However, not everyone is treated
with an adjustment such as in the case of young children or the elderly. In
these cases, other techniques or a specialised instrument may be used instead.
Our practitioners will perform a thorough assessment to ensure that it is
suitable for you and talk you through the benefits beforehand.

Why is there a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?

Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint creates a change in pressure within the
joint. This sudden change in pressure causes the ‘pop’ or ‘click’ that you
usually hear. The same thing occurs when you ‘crack’ your knuckles. It is much
like opening a bottle of champagne or removing a suction cup. The sound is also
not a guide to the quality or need of an adjustment.

Does it hurt to get adjusted?

An adjustment is not normally painful however in some cases, mild soreness to
the area being adjusted may be experienced. These symptoms are often a normal
part of the healing process as your joint movement improves.

What is dry needling?

Trigger point needling is a treatment technique, which uses small filament type
needles to release tight muscles with the goal of permanently reducing muscle
pain and dysfunction.

A myofascial trigger point is a small bundle of muscle fibre knots, which are
related to the production of pain that often occur as a result of postural
dysfunction and in areas of biomechanical stress. Dry needling works by
deactivating and desensitising myofascial trigger point which should stimulate a
healing response.
