Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) commissioned the Yilan Renze Geothermal Power
Plant in 2023, generating nearly 4.7 million kWh of green electricity annually.
Today, Taipower, in partnership with Taiwan Cogeneration Corporation (TCC),
internationally renowned geothermal developer Baseload Power Taiwan, and
geothermal technology company GreenFire Energy, aims to establish a geothermal
team to collaboratively develop geothermal energy in the Tatun Mountain area of
northern Taiwan.

Rock Mechanics Course

Presented by Professor Maurice Dusseault of the University of Waterloo, this is
a 25 session course intended to cover all aspects of rock mechanics and its
application in industry.
Rock mechanics is an important aspect in understanding a geologic reservoir and
mitigating/predicting the risks related to induced seismicity.

This presentation will highlight ongoing research aimed at enhancing Ground
Source Heat Pump (GSHP) performance in cold climates through solar thermal
integration using hybrid solar thermal-electric collectors. Insights from an
ongoing demonstration project underway in the SW of Calgary will also be shared.
This talk will be available in person and online. Registration is required.
