Learn More COMPANY TIMELINE Inaugural Charity Cycling Event Held July 30, 2011 Million Miles at Miller Charity Ride began at Miller Motorsports Park in 2011 as an opportunity for the cycling community to share in the fundraising efforts of Larry H. Miller Charities. Since its inception, more than 2,500 riders used cycling as a way to raise funds to help support causes in the community. Landcar Agency Becomes Total Care Auto February 8, 2012 Landcar Agency, one of the first companies created by Larry H. and Gail Miller, is rebranded as Total Care Auto Powered by Landcar. Teach the Teacher Program Created April 2, 2012 In 2007, Larry H. Miller had a conversation with American author and historian, David McCullough, about their passion for history and a shared concern over how to foster better teaching and greater learning in the classroom. That inspired dialogue would ultimately lead Larry H. Miller to develop a program to help teachers improve the way history is taught in our schools. The Company Acquires 27 Just Sports Apparel Stores October 1, 2013 Twenty-seven retail apparel stores from Just Sports, with locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho, were added under the Fanzz umbrella. The company reached an agreement to sell Just Sports (and Fanzz) to Fanzz Gear Inc., an affiliate of Ames Watson Capital, LCC, effective February 9, 2018. Miller Toyota Corona. 1.5-millionth Vehicle Sold September 27, 2014 Larry H. Miller Dealerships sold the 1.5-millionth car in company history at Larry H. Miller Toyota Murray. Formation of New Board of Directors Announced November 11, 2015 Gail Miller announced the appointment of the organization’s new 12-member board of directors consisting of family members, company officials, and outside business executives, with Gail Miller serving as chairman. The board will provide direction to the company’s leadership and ensure the company’s culture and values are preserved into the future. Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres Welcomes 25-millionth Guest February 25, 2016 Corinne Liddell of Salt Lake City received a golden ticket worth more than $1,000 in movie passes and more as LHM Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons in Sandy celebrated its 25-millionth guest. The milestone represents only the guests who have visited the Sandy location, which opened in 1999. Companywide, nearly 75 million guests have visited the 17 Megaplex locations in Utah and Nevada. Idaho Stampede Moves to Utah and Becomes the Salt Lake City Stars April 4, 2016 The NBA Development League Idaho Stampede, owned by the LHM Group, relocates to Utah for the 2016-17 season and is renamed the Salt Lake City Stars. The new name pays tribute to the American Basketball Association's Utah Stars (league champions in 1971) . $125 Million Arena Transformation to Begin September 21, 2016 Vivint Arena, the premier sports and entertainment venue of the Intermountain West located in downtown Salt Lake City, will be transformed as the result of a $125 million renovation. The majority of the construction will begin at the conclusion of the 2016-17 Utah Jazz basketball season. The first official event in the remodeled Arena was held on September 17, 2017, with a Tim McGraw and Faith Hill concert. Miller Family Transfers Ownership of Utah Jazz January 23, 2017 Gail Miller announced that the ownership of the Utah Jazz and Vivint Arena were transferred into a Legacy Trust in order to keep the franchise in Utah for generations. Miller Dealerships reached a service milestone when customer Rodrigo Leon of West Jordan, Utah, brought his 2017 Dodge Charger in for an oil and filter change at Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Sandy, and became the dealership group’s 20 millionth service customer. Miller Family Announces Sale of Utah Jazz and Sports Properties October 28, 2020 Gail Miller and the Miller family announced that they had entered into definitive agreements to sell a majority interest in the Utah Jazz and other sports and entertainment properties to technology entrepreneur Ryan Smith, co-founder of Utah-based Qualtrics. The sale was approved by the NBA Board of Governors on December 18, 2020. Company Acquires Advanced Health Care January 4, 2021 The company announced that it had acquired Advanced Health Care Corporation (AHC), one of the largest pure-play post-acute transitional care providers in the country. AHC, founded in Idaho in 2001, specializes in short-term nursing and rehabilitation, home health and hospice services. LHM Real Estate Acquires Daybreak Master-planned Community April 12, 2021 Larry H. Miller Real Estate acquired Daybreak, a premier master-planned community in South Jordan, Utah, from Värde Partners. The purchase consists of more than 1,300 undeveloped acres, including ownership interest in a portion of existing commercial assets and future commercial development, as well as remaining undeveloped residential property. Gail Miller Announces Leadership Changes for LHM Board of Directors June 1, 2021 Gail Miller named sons Steve Miller and Greg Miller to serve as chair and vice chair, respectively, of the Larry H. Miller Company Board of Directors. Gail Miller, the immediate past chair, will continue to serve on the company and PTC boards and remains majority owner of the company. Sale of LHM Dealerships to Asbury Automotive Group Finalized December 17, 2021 Asbury Automotive Group completed the acquisition of Larry H. Miller Dealerships, Total Care Auto Powered by Landcar, and Saxton Horne Communications from the Larry H. Miller company in the second-largest transaction in automotive history. Larry H. Miller Real Estate to Acquire Desination Homes January 11, 2022 Larry H. Miller Real Estate, a portfolio company of the Larry H. SLCC Business School is Utah’s First to be Named Exclusively After a Woman October 20, 2022 SLCC announced the renaming of its business building to the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Business Building in honor of the Miller family’s legacy and contributions to the community. The business school will be named the Gail Miller School of Business in recognition of the strong business acumen Gail Miller displays as a community leader and the owner and immediate past chair of the Larry H. Miller Company. This name change will make SLCC home to the only business school in Utah to be named exclusively after a woman. Only four other business schools in the United States are named solely after a woman. The Miller Family and LHM Company Launch Initiative to Bring Major League Baseball to Utah April 12, 2023 The Miller family and the Larry H. Miller Company convened a broad coalition of Utah leaders to position Salt Lake City as an ideal market for Major League Baseball under the banner of "Big League Utah." The broad-based community coalition believes Utah is the “Future of America’s Pastime” because of the state's growth, economy, location, sports culture, and quality of life. Salt Lake Stingers Baseball Team Added to Company Roster March 30, 2005 Triple-A Baseball franchise Salt Lake Stingers are purchased. The team is later renamed the Salt Lake Bees. Larry H. Miller breaks Ground for World-class Race Track April 26, 2005 Groundbreaking held for Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The world-class facility sat on 511 acres and included a 4.5-mile road course, off-road and motocross track, and dual karting tracks. (Opening event April 1, 2006. Closed October 31, 2015.) Larry H. Miller Acquires the Tour of Utah December 1, 2007 Larry H. Miller first became the Tour of Utah title sponsor in 2006 for the 2007 race before eventually acquiring the event. Due to its altitude, distance, and weather conditions, the tour is nicknamed: "America's Toughest Stage Race." Operations of the event were licensed to Medalist Sports on April 29, 2021. Sale of LHM Dealerships to Asbury Automotive Group Finalized December 17, 2021 Asbury Automotive Group completed the acquisition of Larry H. Miller Dealerships, Total Care Auto Powered by Landcar, and Saxton Horne Communications from the Larry H. Miller company in the second-largest transaction in automotive history. Larry H. Miller Real Estate to Acquire Desination Homes January 11, 2022 Larry H. Miller Real Estate, a portfolio company of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, announced plans to acquire Destination Homes’ residential construction business. The transaction was finalized on March 1, 2022. The Larry H. Miller Company Introduces Brand Refresh March 1, 2022 The names and logos of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and Larry H. Miller Management Corporation (MMC) are formally transitioned to the Larry H. Miller Company. The updated logo is a combination of the iconic Larry H. Miller signature paired with carefully considered typography. The signature references the entrepreneurial personalities and enduring legacy of our founders, Larry and Gail Miller, while the contemporary, solid typography evokes our foundational values: integrity, hard work, stewardship, and service. SLCC Business School is Utah’s First to be Named Exclusively After a Woman October 20, 2022 SLCC announced the renaming of its business building to the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Business Building in honor of the Miller family’s legacy and contributions to the community. The business school will be named the Gail Miller School of Business in recognition of the strong business acumen Gail Miller displays as a community leader and the owner and immediate past chair of the Larry H. Miller Company. This name change will make SLCC home to the only business school in Utah to be named exclusively after a woman. Only four other business schools in the United States are named solely after a woman. The Miller Family and LHM Company Launch Initiative to Bring Major League Baseball to Utah April 12, 2023 The Miller family and the Larry H. Miller Company convened a broad coalition of Utah leaders to position Salt Lake City as an ideal market for Major League Baseball under the banner of "Big League Utah." The broad-based community coalition believes Utah is the “Future of America’s Pastime” because of the state's growth, economy, location, sports culture, and quality of life. The coalition has targeted a shovel-ready site for a new MLB ballpark at the 100-acre Rocky Mountain Power District on Salt Lake City’s west side. The Larry H. LHM Dealerships Sells its 500,000th Vehicle December 1, 2001 The LHM Company celebrated a milestone of selling the 500,000th vehicle at Larry H. Miller Chevrolet in Murray, Utah. Salt Lake Stingers Baseball Team Added to Company Roster March 30, 2005 Triple-A Baseball franchise Salt Lake Stingers are purchased. The team is later renamed the Salt Lake Bees. Larry H. Miller breaks Ground for World-class Race Track April 26, 2005 Groundbreaking held for Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The world-class facility sat on 511 acres and included a 4.5-mile road course, off-road and motocross track, and dual karting tracks. (Opening event April 1, 2006. Closed October 31, 2015.) Larry H. Miller Acquires the Tour of Utah December 1, 2007 Larry H. Miller first became the Tour of Utah title sponsor in 2006 for the 2007 race before eventually acquiring the event. Due to its altitude, distance, and weather conditions, the tour is nicknamed: "America's Toughest Stage Race." Operations of the event were licensed to Medalist Sports on April 29, 2021. On December 22, 2021, Medalist announced that it will no longer pursue planning efforts for 2022. The One-millionth Car Sold September 29, 2007 Following a multi-week promotional period, Larry H. Miller Dealerships marked the selling of its one-millionth vehicle. Company Founder Larry H. Miller Passes Away February 20, 2009 Larry H.
