THE DHARMA TEACHER ORDER

is a group of monastics and lay people who follow the Vietnamese Zen (Thien)
Buddhist tradition and are interested in 1) learning more about the Dharma
(Buddha’s teachings), 2) developing our spiritual practices and 3) making the
Dharma available to the Western Hemisphere. We are respectful of all Buddhist
traditions as well as other religious denominations and welcome interaction with
all of them.


DHARMA STUDY PROGRAM

It has long been an aspiration for the DTO to offer our Dharma Studies Course
online. For a variety of reasons it did not come to pass until the pandemic
forced us to move to virtual practices.

In 2022-2023 all our sanghas combined and jointly ran the course as one combined
online sangha. It was an amazing success! Based on what we learned, we refined
our approached and opened our virtual doors to all comers for the 2023-2024
class. The response was heartwarming. We had an amazing year together with a
wonderful group of students, mentors, and other friends on the path.

We are now in the process of setting up for our 2024-2025 class. This year we
will be on year two of our curriculum, covering the Buddha’s teachings on
meditation practices, based on the Anapanasati, Satipatthana Sutras, and other
works. The class’ curriculum runs in a four year cycle, but no year is a
prerequisite for another, so you are free to join in at any time.


APPLICATIONS FOR 2024-2025 ARE NOW OPEN!

The application window for the 2024-2025 Dharma Studies Class offered by the
Buddhadharma Studies Institute will be open from 6/15/2024 until 7/20/2024.

We thank all prospective applicants for considering joining our cohort of
students and mentors as we explore the Dharma.
