NATIGP

Mission Statement

The NATIGP aim to:

• Facilitate the practice based training of general practitioners.

• Establish recognition of and foster the unique role of GP trainers in the
training of general practitioners.

• Promote the development of high quality in-practice GP training.

• Represent the aims and views of trainers in general practice on all issues
relating to training of general practitioners.

• Update trainers on issues relating to GP training.

• Provide a body for consultation with GP trainers on all issues related to GP
training.

• Seek representation at all relevant bodies that have input in the training of
GPs.

• Participate with the IMO in negotiations on behalf of trainers.

Constitution.

Membership is open to all appointed trainers in general practice. A specialist
trainer in general practice is a general practitioner who is a trainer in the
general practice setting. All trainers are invited to sign up for membership.

National Committee

The Committee is constituted of representatives from each trainers workshop
nominated by each workshop on an annual basis. The Committee selects its own
chairperson and secretary. A quarter of the Committee is required to make a
quorum. The NATIGP Annual General Meeting is held at National Trainers Workshop
each year, where update and accounts are presented. The National Committee
nominates a representative to ICGP Council and to the National Steering
Committee for Specialist Training in General Practice.
