"Economics must not be relegated to classrooms and statistical offices and
must not be left to esoteric circles. It is the philosophy of human life and
action and concerns everybody and everything. It is the pith of civilization and
of man's human existence." – Ludwig von Mises   "Economics is not dart throwing.
It can be understood and properly forecast...(it) is a scientific discipline
with established laws; applying those laws will yield fairly accurate
predictions over time." – Peter Schiff   Gold

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you assume that about 100 people in Washington are going to have meaningful
input in the decision on how to spend this enormous stimulus of $800 billion,
then on average each person is responsible for spending about $8 billion of our
money. Can anyone in government spend that much money, $8,000 from every US
household, more wisely than the average American would spend it? I simply do not
believe that, and I also reject the morally dubious concept of taking people's
money and spending it on their behalf, supposedly for their own good. — Alan
