FAQS

HOW DOES TRACELOOP GENERATE CODE?

Traceloop analyzes your production traces and logs to understand how your
services normally interact with each other. For example, it can learn that
whenever a request to create a user is sent, a request to the e-mail service to
send an e-mail to the newly registered user also gets sent.

WHAT ARE "GENERATED CODE BLOCKS"?

Traceloop generates a code block for each flow it analyzes in your system. This
code block validates that a given flow is working as it was originally observed.

CAN I COMMIT THE GENERATED CODE TO GIT?

Of course! You can commit it to your git repository. The generated code is fully
functional and you can even run it locally or remotely with our open-source
runner on any of your environments.

DO I NEED OPENTELEMETRY INSTALLED IN ORDER TO USE TRACELOOP?

Yes. Traceloop is built on top of OpenTelemetry and requires you to have it
installed in your the environment you want to analyze. Getting started with
OpenTelemetry is easier than ever! Check out our guide for more information.

DO I HAVE TO GIVE TRACELOOP ACCESS TO MY PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT?

No. Traceloop can analyze and use tracing data from any environment -
production, staging, or even your local machine.

CAN I TRY THE PRODUCT OUT BEFORE PURCHASING?

Yes! You can try out the product for free for 14 days. After that, you can
choose to purchase a subscription or cancel your account.

HOW IS THE PRICE DETERMINED?

The different pricing tiers each provide you with a predefined number of code
blocks you can generate. Each generated block is tied to a specific flow in your
system and can be regenerated for that specific flow as many times as you want.
For any extra generated code block on top of the predefined number, you will be
charged a small fee.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?

You can retain any generated code blocks even if you cancel your subscription.
