WHAT IS MOULD?


Mould is a type of fungus that can thrive in any building, new or old,
particularly where the atmosphere is damp and poorly ventilated or warm, moist
and stagnant. Not only is mould unsightly, it can have a damaging effect on
furniture and fabrics. Moreover, mould can affect one’s lungs and cause
breathing difficulties. It is classified as a category one health risk to health
under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System 2000, which places it in the
same class as asbestos.


PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE


Once your immediate black mould problem has been addressed, we may install
dehumidifiers and air movers to start the drying process to prevent its
re-occurrence. In addition, there are some simple lifestyle changes and DIY tips
you can make in your home. These include:

Opening windows and doors to ventilate your home more efficiently

Using trickle vents fitted to double glazing

Using the extractor fans and opening windows when taking a hot shower

Always using the extractor fan in the kitchen and covering pots with lids when
cooking

Drying clothes outside instead of on radiators where possible

NO SHORT CUTS


Contrary to popular belief, cleaning with bleach and water is not the solution
to mould infestation, as bleach will not kill all the mould. Rather, it
stimulates the mould to release of its spores, which further compounds the
problem and increases the likelihood of the mould re-occurring.

At Causeway Cleaning Ltd, our trained mould remediation professionals use a
combination of chemical products and mechanical solutions to remove the mould
and any mould-bearing material carefully and correctly, so as to eliminate the
spread of the spores. This prevents other rooms or areas from being exposed.

walls that were affected as well as the ceiling. He then explained the source of
the mould and gave me a plan to go forward with. His attitude, punctuality and
