Cornerstone Association of REALTORS® (Cornerstone) is a brand-new, novel
association set to launch on July 1, 2024. Representing REALTORS® serving in the
markets of Mississauga, Burlington, Hamilton, Waterloo Region, Niagara North,
Haldimand County, Norfolk County and surrounding areas, it will become Ontario’s
second-largest real estate board comprised of nearly 9,000 REALTORS®.

Established to better serve and represent REALTORS®, its vision is to establish
a new, more influential, capable, and member-centric organization designed to
meet the evolving needs of REALTORS® and help them thrive in the marketplace.

Cornerstone stands for transparency, honesty, and integrity. By taking a
proactive stance toward the future and not being afraid to question some of the
long-standing assumptions, Cornerstone offers a unique value proposition, paving
the way for members’ brighter future.

   Drew Hemsley elected as Chair-Elect and Bill Duce selected as Chief Executive
   Officer
   
   
   
   June 3, 2024—The Amalgamation Task Force (ATF) for the Cornerstone
   Association of REALTORS® (Cornerstone) is pleased to announce it has elected
   Drew Hemsley as Chair- Elect, and selected Bill Duce as the Chief Executive
   Officer.
   
   Cornerstone formally launches on July 1, 2024, and unites REALTORS® from the
   Hamilton- Burlington, Mississauga, Simcoe, and Waterloo Region real estate
   associations. With close to 9,000 members, Cornerstone forms Ontario’s
   second-largest and Canada’s fourth-largest real estate board. On April 29,
   2024, Julie Sergi was elected as the inaugural Chair of Cornerstone for its
   2024/2025 Board of Directors. At the ATF meeting held on May 31, 2024, Drew
   Hemsley was elected to serve alongside Sergi as Chair-Elect.
   
   
   
   A REALTOR® since 2008, Hemsley has served as a Director on the Simcoe and
   District Real Estate Board (SDREB) since 2022. He is a sales representative
   with Royal LePage Trius Realty in Port Dover and currently serves as
   president of SDREB.
   
   
   Hemsley’s background as the Director of Operations of a large logistics
   company for almost two decades and as the owner and operator of a successful
   renovation company provides diverse skills to support Cornerstone, especially
   during these early years.
   
   
   “There will be significant developments in organized real estate within the
   next decade,” says Hemsley. “I firmly believe that Cornerstone is
   exceptionally positioned to lead these changes, and I look forward to
   supporting our Board Chair, Julie Sergi, and our recently hired CEO as we
   navigate these exciting changes together with our Board of Directors for the
   benefit of our members.”
   
   Bill Duce has been a leader within the Canadian real estate MLS® and
   association network for over two decades, most recently as current CEO of the
   Waterloo Region Association of REALTORS® (WRAR). During his tenure, he
   participated in the creation of the Ontario Regional Technology & Information
   Systems (ORTIS) regional initiative, and in 2018, he was one of the project
   leads for the Information Technology Systems of Ontario (ITSO)
   regional initiative, which combined the seventeen boards that made up ORTIS
   and the Ontario Collective groups into one singular regional MLS® System. As
   CEO of the
   
   Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS®, he led the association through
   an amalgamation with the Cambridge Association of REALTORS® which formed WRAR
   in 2022.
   
   
   “Duce’s extensive experience in leading regional initiatives and association
   amalgamations will be invaluable in supporting Cornerstone’s overall vision,”
   says Julie Sergi, Cornerstone’s Chair. “He brings a unique perspective and
   his record demonstrates he is a visionary and successful at collaborating
   with diverse stakeholders and streamlining operations.”
   
   
   “I am a builder at heart, and I look forward to aligning four exceptional
   associations to create something greater than the sum of its parts,” says
   Duce. “Organized real estate is overdue for a reset, and Cornerstone has the
   potential to be on the vanguard of this change while keeping our REALTOR®
