Nurse Educators present their HESS usage to the ANPD (Assoc. for Nursing
Professional Development)

Organization: OSU Brain & Spine Hospital, The James Cancer Hospital
HESS Components Used: Care Monitor, ICU Monitor, Body Sounds App, Magic
Invisible Markers
Other Platforms Utilized: Zoom, CPR Manikin Torso

The Story:

Kristi Bulkowski MSN-Ed, RN, a nurse educator with The Ohio State University
Brain and Spine Hospital and Emily Beck MSN-Ed, RN, a nurse educator with The
James Cancer Hospital presented how they use the HESS at a meeting of the ANPD
(Association for Nursing Professional Development) Central Ohio Affiliate.

Kristi and Emily have different backgrounds and styles, so the two presentations
are a nice example of how the HESS can augment a nurse educator's efforts in a
wide variety of ways.

Here is the "synopsis" video link of both Kristi's and Emily's presentations (10
min):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX9GeiafgWE

And here is the video link of the full session (36 min):

Kristi's usage was geared toward providing an active learning approach in a
classroom style - for when a group of learners is attending a formal training
session. In this case, Kristi's usage also highlights the flexibility of the
HESS since it illustrates reaching learners via Zoom in a socially distant
fashion.

Emily's usage was live and "in-situ" right in the units - illustrating a very
powerful capability of the HESS. The "Mobile Education Cart with HESS Monitor"
that Emily and her team created is a very powerful and cost effective way to
deliver quality active learning exercises without taking learners away from the
bedside.

Finally, Kristi and Emily discuss the importance of the HESS being the
"affordable, portable HESS" - and how the affordability and portability
contributed significantly to their ability to adopt and implement the HESS in
their respective environments.

Thanks Kristi! Thanks Emily!
