MEET THE EVESHAM CARE TEAM

Denny Bruce

Area Care Manager

Hello, I’m Denny, area manager for Helping Hands’ Central region. It’s my
responsibility to meet with customers to gain feedback on a regular basis and
ensure that they are happy with our service, to meet potential new customers
face-to-face and to manage a wonderful team of visiting carers, supporting them
with supervisions and appraisals. I am also a Dementia Champion, which has
really developed my understanding of support and supervision for those working
with, and living with, the condition.

OTHER SERVICES WE PROVIDE AT THIS BRANCH

HOME CARE IN EVESHAM

It can often be quite a difficult decision when deciding to arrange for a carer
to come and help you at home, but with our friendly team in Evesham it needn’t
be difficult at all. We’ll meet with you at a time and place that suits you and
take you through the different care options available to you. And because we
specialise in person-centred care, everything will be centred around you and
your requirements.

So, whether you’re living with multiple sclerosis and need support with personal
care, getting dressed and preparing meals, or if you’re struggling with your
mobility when you’re out and about and need someone to help with the shopping –
we can put a supportive package of care in place that enables you to live the
life you want to lead.

And if your care needs change, we can adapt to this too. We never have a
one-size-fits-all approach, as we know how quickly things can sometimes change
when it comes to living with a progressive condition or injury. However, our
experienced team will be able to provide plenty of reassurance and swiftly
change your visiting care hours or type of care that you receive if necessary.

ONE-TO-ONE SUPPORT FROM LIVE-IN CARE

Designed to be a more intensive form of support, live-in care is ideal if you
have more complex needs or are perhaps living as a couple but you both need an
extra pair of hands around the house and with some personal care.

Living with you in your home, a live-in carer enables you to have a constant
source of reassurance throughout the day and night, so you know that someone is
always there whenever you need them. So, if you need to take medication at
regular intervals during the day and night or if you struggle getting in and out
of bed and mobilising around your house, a live-in carer could be what enables
you to stay in the comfort of your own home whilst still receiving the quality
care that you need.

We don’t just send anyone to come and live and care for you. We’ll work with you
to find a suitable carer, and once you’re happy that the right carer has been
selected that matches your personality and interests, we’ll arrange for them to
meet with you before they move in. It’s really important to us that a carer
doesn’t just have experience in your practical care needs but is someone that
you can get along with and feel comfortable with.

DOMICILIARY CARE THAT LET’S YOU STAY IN CONTROL

Traditionally known as care at home or visiting care, domiciliary care allows
you to pick and choose when and where you receive support without any detriment
to your existing routines. Carers can support you with taking medication,
getting washed and dressed, toileting needs and using mobility aids, all the way
up to taking you to medical appointments, doing light housework or even taking
you out for the afternoon to The Valley, Evesham for a spot of shopping and a
slice of cake.

There really are many options for you to choose from, but most importantly,
we’re here to relieve any stress or anxiety that you may get when worrying about
difficulties that you may be having. We’ll do our best to get support to you as
soon as we can so that you have total peace of mind when it comes to your
physical and mental wellbeing.

EMPATHETIC DEMENTIA CARE FROM OUR EXPERTS

When someone receives a diagnosis of dementia, it can be an extremely unsettling
time for both the individual and their family. The Evesham team are experienced
in working with families affected by the condition and know how to settle any
anxieties, answer questions and most importantly, provide the very best in
dementia care.

If your memory starts to decline, you become more confused or you’re unable to
communicate as easily as you used to, we’ll put extra measures in place to allow
you to feel as safe and comfortable as possible whilst remaining in the place
that you know and love; your home.

EXTRA ASSISTANCE WITH ELDERLY CARE

Getting older shouldn’t mean that you have to completely change your life and
become sedentary. With a little support from the team of carers, you can make
small amendments to your life but without having to forgo your favourite
activities.

If you’re a keen boules player but struggle with your joints, we’ll help you to
carry out regular exercises at home to keep you nimble and active. Or if you
love spending time in your garden but are unable to bend down to plant new bulbs
or dead-head the flowers, we’ll reach the plants that are lower down and
encourage you to use plant pots that are in your reach instead.

RESPITE CARE WHEN YOU NEED LAST-MINUTE SUPPORT

Emergencies can arise at any given time, often without any warning or time to
prepare. If you find yourself in the position where you’re without support for
your care needs that you’re unable to carry out yourself, we can swiftly arrange
for respite care to begin, often in as little as 24 hours from when you first
enquire.

We also provide respite care if you need help after an illness or injury that
you were in hospital for, or even if you and your family want to take a holiday
together without worrying about your care needs. With some of the best carers in
the industry as part of the Helping Hands family, we’ll make sure that you have
a friendly and experienced carer ready tend to all of your care needs. They’ll
even accompany you and your family on holiday so that you can all enjoy a real
break.

FULLY-TRAINED CARERS IN EVESHAM

Since 1989, we have been committed to providing the highest standard of care to
our customers throughout England and Wales, whilst also ensuring that our staff
receive the very best training and support. By being closely monitored by the
Care Quality Commission (CQC), both our staff and customers can rest assured
that we are providing a safe, responsive and effective service that is
consistently inspected and that adheres to industry standards.

All of our carers are required to undertake an in-house training programme that
covers manual handling, first aid, dementia, medication and personal care so
that they are equipped to support our customers in the best way possible. We are
extremely proud to be the first and only home care provider to be recognised as
a Centre of Excellence for our training programme. Not only are carers required
to go through this training when they begin their journey with us, but they are
all required to have regular refresher sessions to make sure they are following
the latest guidelines and sharing good practice.
