OUR STORY

Matt and Alex met at a local brewery in Detroit. It was a bit of a rocky start
since Matt isn't the best at meeting people for the first time. The second date
went much more smoothly and so began the start of the next three years! Matt and
Alex love to spend time with family and friends and are so excited to gather
everyone together for the big day. Matt proposed to Alex on May 10, 2022, in
Gaeta, Italy! The day began with a short train ride from Rome, into the town
that Matt was once stationed in. Joined by Alex's parents and a local friend of
Matt's, a wonderful day ensued. First, they had cappuccini at Matt's favorite
coffee shop, followed by lunch, and a visit to a local attraction called Split
Mountain. After this Alex's mom "wanted to go back to the apartment to rest a
bit" so Matt and Alex continued on a little hike. The hike boasted lovely views
of the surrounding area and ruins from Roman times! Towards the end of the hike,
Matt found a little spot that overlooked the medieval castle in the old part of
the town and knelt on one knee with a Dodo egg... Inside the egg was a ring, and
Matt asked Alex to marry him!
