H-hey guys.........

So, I obviously didn't mean for it to be so long between uploads. This can
partially be attributed to ongoing health concerns, but I can admit that I
shoulder significant blame when it comes to reduced episode output. I hope this
episode can help make up for that!

Alice, Cass, and I were joined by--who else?--Vanna from Empty Movement, as well
as Lottie from the Empty Movement discord server, to talk about James Somerton's
abysmal Revolutionary Girl Utena video, and what we thought of its contents.
Spoiler alert-- it sucks!!

I also can promise that the remainder of Imagine Me & Mawaru Penguindrum will be
released across the coming months. It's long been recorded-- I just have to get
down to business and get it all in a listenable state. The patience I've been
shown by this community knows no bounds, and the past year has been no
exception.

.............hey guys......................

So uh. Sorry for disappearing for a couple months :(

Without getting too specific out of respect for the parties involved, a brief
summary of why I've been gone. In April, I took a trip out of state to see one
of my partners; at the time, I had an episode scheduled to go up while I was
gone, and planned on resuming work as soon as I got home. Right after I got
home, however, someone very close to me experienced a mental health crisis that
became very serious. This, and the path towards recovery from it, have
unfortunately taken a considerable amount out of me emotionally, and my work has
suffered as a result. But the good news is that things have really been looking
up, and I'm doing my best to get my various trains back on their tracks.

And in more good news, at time of writing this we have actually finished
recording episodes about Mawaru Penguindrum! So now all I have to do is get them
in a state that is listenable to your ears ^^; It's funny, listening to these
episodes now after having finished the show; I'm sure plenty of you can relate.

We have some pretty exciting plans coming up, and I can't wait to show you what
they are. No spoilers but........there may be dice rolling involved >:3

Sorry for the unannounced break! We are still here, I promise. As is generally
the case with when we are off for a couple weeks, the horrors are just
never-ending lol (but I am ok)

But we have a great episode for you!!! Returning guest and Mawaru Penguindrum
enthusiast Audrey has joined us to talk about the Dune-esque assassination plots

Episode 15 - First as Tragedy, Second as Farce

The follow up to the last harrowing episode is here, and boy are we glad to have
had Yasha to talk us through it. We've learned more about Yuri-- but at what
cost!

Last week my editing schedule got thrown off because my wife and I met up with
Alice and Cass at the MS state capitol for a protest against HB 1125, a bill set
to outlaw gender-affirming care for trans youth in the state. If you look
closely at this picture, you can kinda see my little neon head!



Even though this bill will probably be signed into law, it was nice to see so
many people come out in support of trans rights. Some of us got lunch afterwards
at a local restaurant that has hosted drag shows in the past.



It's hard to take a picture with 8 people when you don't have a selfie stick lol

Hey guys!

So, a funny story about this episode. We actually recorded it waaay back in May
of 2022, as we were getting ready to start covering Mawaru Penguindrum. But then
we recorded the first Mawaru Penguindrum episode soon after, and I was so
excited about it I completely forgot to edit and release this one!! So here it
is, almost an entire year later lmao

It was so fun getting to talk to Yasha, Vanna, and Laura about Scott Pilgrim,
and what it was like for Laura to grow up in the place and time period the story
is set! And as with and conversation with Yasha and Vanna, they also had a lot
to say about its similarities to Revolutionary Girl Utena. As we all know: all
stories are Utena, and Utena is all stories ;P

And as promised, here is that picture I mention towards the end of the episode~

Episode 12 - Keiju Tabuki’s Horrible No-Good Very Bad Day

So here we are! We're halfway there, living on a prayer, etc. This episode was
peak Ikuhara bullshit and we were sad every minute of it lol

We announce a couple things in this episode: first, we are planning a crossover
event between Imagine Me & Utena and Big Steppy, where we will be talking about
the prologue and first episode of the new Mobile Suit Gundam anime, The Witch
From Mercury! We have all really been loving it so far, and it's the perfect
intersection of our podcasts. Second, after this episode we will be taking a
hiatus for the holidays! I know that for you patrons, this episode is coming out
in early October, but it will be hitting the public feed at the end of the
month, after which we will be taking a break for November and most of December.

Have no fear, though!! Those two crossover episodes (one for Imagine Me & Utena,
and one for Big Steppy) will come out sometime during the hiatus, so you won't
have to miss us for too long. I also suspect that the Empty Movement girls may
try to rope me into something for the 25th anniversary of the Revolutionary Girl
Utena finale ^^;

As I write this, I am 12 hours from going to the hospital for my surgery. I look
forward to seeing y'all on the other side :)

This episode would have gone up a lot earlier, but my weekend hanging out with
Yasha and Vanna turned into basically a whole week when their plans to drive to
Florida were derailed by Hurricane Ian. I may not have gotten any work done, but
we did watch the entirety of Cybersix, so I'm sure you understand ;P

I liked this episode a lot! It was nice to get to see more of Himari's
perspective, something this show has been severely lacking, and we finally find
out who the mysterious pink-haired man in the opening sequence is. Stay tuned
for next episode, where we will learn whether or not Shoma fucking died lol

Our first guest episode of the Penguindrum run, woohoo!!! Jeff is a longtime
friend and multiple-time guest on the show, so we were thrilled when he asked to
come on for an episode. Things get pretty wild!

On the personal front, the surgery I've been trying to get stuff sorted with has
been scheduled for early October, so I will be temporarily out of commission
while I'm recovering from that. I'm going to do my best to edit some episodes
ahead of time so there aren't any delays in our release schedule, but as we all
know, Pand plans and Kumaria laughs :P

So......that break was only supposed to last a week!! I'm very sorry!!

As anyone living in the US could guess, even though I though my insurance woes
were over, they are of course not! And doing all this has been very exhausting
