Today our Year 5 and 6 Cross Country team took part in the Dorset Schools
Championships at Kings Park.  The children ran excellently in extremely cold
temperatures and should all be proud of the effort that they put in. Lily D was
our first girl home in a time of 11 minutes 40 seconds, whilst Louis R won the
whole of the boys competition with a time of 8 minutes 40 seconds. Well done
Team Yarrells. We are waiting for the team scores all to be added up to know
where we ranked against all the other schools in the county. Mr Fisk Head of PE

New Books Arrive in the Library We are very excited to announce the arrival of
no less than 64 new titles into the school library! Thanks to you supporting the
Scholastic Book Fair, the rewards the school received has helped us to stock up
on a variety of books at different ‘Perfect Match’ reading levels. More books
means more choice, and more choice means more fabulous reading! The library
elves are busy getting the books ready to borrow, so they should be on the

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary
them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We
will remember them.” It has been an important time of remembrance at Yarrells
today. We gathered at 11:00 this morning, to commemorate the signing of the
armistice agreement, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day on the eleventh
month in 1918. This is a solemn moment for the Yarrells community, as we come
together to think about all those people who have made, and continue to make,
sacrifices for both our freedom and for continued peace in the world. We have
many in our school community whose lives are focused on giving service and many
of our pupils have parents and relatives who work in the forces. We feel deeply
on occasions like today and give thanks to everyone in our school community who
works so selflessly to ensure security and peace for others. From our Head - Mrs

2023 Earthshot Prize winners in Singapore. As part of geography, they have been
busy researching the finalists and thinking about who they would like to win.

Year 5 rugby fixture vs @fsmschool & @clayesmoreprep The year 5’s played their
first fixture of the season at FSM today. After a very wet morning the clouds
had vanished before kick-off. Both Reds and Greens worked very well in their
respective teams, there was some great forward running and dodging with great
support play. Defensively we tackled well improving throughout the matches. The
children made really good progress during the matches particularly with their
positioning and spreading out in both attack and defence. The teachers were
really impressed with all the student's attitude and effort. Huge

Throughout November we’re taking part in ‘Cut Your Carbon’ Eco Schools
Challenge! Challenging all pupils to complete 9 small carbon cutting actions at
home with the help of friends and family. Cut Your Carbon is a national schools
campaign, delivered by the country’s largest environmental schools programme,
Eco-Schools. The campaign creates a national moment, spotlighting the various
aspects of our lives that result in carbon emissions and challenges pupils to
take positive action to reduce their carbon footprint. The central challenge of
Cut Your Carbon is a checklist of 9 simple actions that pupils can complete at
home with family and friends throughout November. These actions relate to
everyday activities and prompt families to consider how they can make small
changes to help reduce their impact on our planet.
