Scroll down to access the mapping tool and find more information. The OWTS Interactive Mapping Tool is an application that is part of a larger study that maps and analyzes Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) across Sonoma County. OWTS, commonly referred to as septic systems, are subject to increasingly stringent regulations, especially in areas near waterways impaired with pollutants such as excess pathogens, bacteria, or nutrients. Improved understanding of the county’s OWTS situation will assist with efforts to keep the water clean and fulfill regulations. The study is designed to increase the County’s understanding of OWTS on a countywide scale and analyze the challenges and opportunities for wastewater treatment alternatives, including management and support options. For more information on how parcels were categorized as "Known" or "Suspected" OWTS, please refer to the "OWTS Analysis Report" under the Resources section.
