Our new electric vehicle charging station is a shining example of the
University’s commitment to sustainability.

Located at Cajun Field, it’s the first public electric vehicle charging station
in Lafayette, and the only one in Louisiana powered by solar energy.

Power for the electric vehicle charging station is produced less than a half
mile away, at the Photovoltaic Applied Research and Testing Laboratory.

UL Lafayette is the only university in the state with a solar farm.

Its 4,500 panels generate 1.1 megawatts, or 20 percent of the electricity
required to power southern portions of campus, including Cajun Field.

By reducing food waste, recycling electronics, using bottle-refilling water
fountains, and increasing recycling, we’re protecting our campus – and our world
