CURRENT CAMPAIGNS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our current campaign priority is The Shameka Edwards Annual Back-to-School & Work event at the Cleary School for the Deaf in Suffolk County, Long Island. This event is in honor and memory of Shameka Edwards, a former student of the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf from the age of 3 to 18. Shameka then returned to her school to become an Adult Services Advisor to assist adults with disabilities in obtaining employment. She loved her school and was passionate about learning and helping her community. The event will take place on September 4th and will provide back to school supplies for the children and basic necessities for their families as a whole. Cleary School is a private, state supported program that has served the Deaf community of Long Island since 1925. Viewing all children as unique and individualized learners, they provide access to language, communication and learning for students from birth to 21 years of age, striving to prepare children who are deaf to become active and contributing members of society. Cleary School for the Deaf believes that all students have the right to a quality education that will support their ability to thrive independently. https://www.clearyschool.org/ We are raising funds to provide the following for 200 students and adult students: -Bookbags with all of the needed school supplies according to grade -Toiletry bags (soap, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, 4oz hand sanitizers) -Hearing aid batteries (sizes 10, 13, 312, 675) -Socks -Diapers and wipes -Feminine hygiene products **NOTE: Any funds collected in excess of the need for the above supplies will be presented to the school as a financial donation towards program enhancements.
