Welcome back to Sustainable Views.

As policy makers begin to focus on biodiversity and wider environmental risks, a
new disclosure framework joins the alphabet soup of sustainability. The
Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures released its draft methodology
this week, inviting feedback from all potential users. Do we really need another
reporting framework? We asked TNFD co-chair David Craig, who was previously the
CEO of data provider Refinitiv (we asked him about the seemingly overwhelming
data challenges in this space too.)

This week, EU finance ministers also agreed on a proposal for a Carbon Border
Adjustment Mechanism. You’ll find details – as well as an indication of what’s
missing – in our regulatory briefing along with a number of other policy news
from the UK, the US as well as Asia.

Staying in Asia, we look at Vietnam and how its energy plans have been affected
by some unintended consequences of the sanctions on Russia following its
invasion of Ukraine.

We also continue to look at Ukraine, and at how the war is putting financial
firms’ ESG promises to the test.

In our knowledge hub, you’ll find research on sovereign data and the Bank for
International Settlements’ views on ESG investing.

Until next week.
