Bubolz Nature Preserve strives to serve as a gathering place for the community
to become inspired by, appreciate and enjoy nature. Through educational
programming and recreational opportunities, Bubolz encourages fostering a
healthy environment and providing an improved quality of life. The unique blend
of habitats found here are what make the preserve such an important natural area
in Northeast Wisconsin. The preserve is located where Wisconsin’s Northern and
Southern biological communities meet, producing a diverse array of flora and
fauna from both of these regions of the state can be discovered throughout the
property.

With humans exerting a greater impact on the Earth every day, it is essential to
think about living more lightly on the land. We have only one Earth, home to
wondrous plants and animals but also a human population of 7.9 billion and
growing.
To ensure a healthy planet supporting us all, people need to learn the
importance of recycling, energy conservation, green options and conservation of
biodiversity. With that knowledge, they can make smart decisions to protect and
sustain our home into the future.
With real, hands-on learning opportunities, people of all ages connect with
nature, making them care about the environment. We have to start today with
little steps towards better choices to protect our Earth, ourselves and the
futures of those we care about. The educational programming at Bubolz is
committed to making this happen.

ROMP IN THE SWAMP
Join us for our 29th annual Romp in the Swamp on Saturday, October 15th!
Families can take part in an autumn adventure throughout the preserve! Collect
candy at trick-or-treat stops along our jack-o-lantern trail, cook a s’more,
play fun games & more! Families are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best
for a chance to win great prizes in our costume contest.
Tickets go on sale September 1st.

Support growth in environmental education, giving children access to the power
of learning and exploration inside a living classroom surrounded by nature.
The preserve welcomes over 80,000 visitors annually, of all ages as a recreation
destination and a “getaway” from our hectic lives with its 8.5 miles of trails,
snowshoe and ski rental, natural playscape, and family programs.
Fund the preservation of this unique natural area now and for generations to
come. The preserve includes a diverse number of habitats and is home to an
assorted blend of plants and animal inhabitants to explore.

Learn how to treat outdoor spaces with kindness and respect as you complete this
badge! Complete an Eco Hike, learn about the leave no trace principals and how
to respect wildlife, and discover different ways to be kind to others while you
are in the outdoors. Finish the program by learning how to build a safe
campfire. This program will cover requirements for the Eco Friend Badge.

GIRL SCOUTS: ECO CAMPER
Come to Bubolz and learn how to respect nature and protect the environment while
on a future camping trip. Learn the leave no trace principals, how make your own
solar oven out of a pizza box, and proper campfire etiquette. Go for a hike at
the preserve while recording wildlife and play a leave no trace game. This
program will cover requirements for the Eco Camper Badge.

OWL PROWL
Join us as we learn more about owls of Wisconsin. We will begin with a short
presentation with a live owl demonstration and dissection of owl pellets. This
will be followed by a night hike to look for owls and learn more about their
adaptations.
