A TIFF image viewer for Windows web browsers A product of Medical Informatics Engineering ▼ AlternaTIFF is a web browser add-on (ActiveX control or plug-in) that displays most of the common types of TIFF (.tif) image files. It works in most web browsers for Windows XP and higher (Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 in desktop mode, etc.). Current version: 2.0.8 - 2015-05-22 AlternaTIFF is free to use for any purpose; however, you will be required to register it before it can be used to view images. You will be told how to register when you install it, or when you first use it to view an image. (You do not need to search this web site looking for a way to register. Please choose from the following three options (there are two download methods available for the ActiveX control). If you use Internet Explorer, you should probably select option 1. Otherwise, select option 3. 1. ActiveX control, auto-install For Internet Explorer. 32-bit version: <Click here to go to the installation page> - For 32-bit IE on any version of Windows. 64-bit x64 version: <Click here to go to the installation page> - For 64-bit IE on 64-bit Windows. If you're not sure, choose the 32-bit version. Note: You must be logged in as a user who has (or can acquire) sufficient privileges to install ActiveX controls on your computer. 2. ActiveX control, in a downloadable ZIP file For advanced users of Internet Explorer. Download 32-bit version: alternatiff-ax-w32-2.0.8.zip Download 64-bit x64 version: alternatiff-ax-w64-2.0.8.zip This version can be downloaded once and installed on multiple computers, but it requires an unzip utility, and knowledge of how to manipulate files and folders. It usually has to be installed from an administrative command prompt. 3. Standard web browser plug-in (Netscape-style) For Firefox, and other browsers that support plug-ins. NOTICE: Firefox and Chrome have deprecated support for plugins like alternatiff so you may no longer be able to use it. See Firefox support information for details. Download 32-bit version: alternatiff-pl-w32-2.0.8.exe - For 32-bit browsers on any version of Windows. Download 64-bit x64 version: alternatiff-pl-w64-2.0.8.exe - For 64-bit browsers on 64-bit Windows (experimental). Save the file to your computer, then open it and follow the instructions.
