FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT GRADE LEVEL ARE THE RESOURCES APPROPRIATE FOR? These resources work best for students in grades 7-10. Of course, students vary quite a bit across the nation and within schools. I recommend you download the free resources and see how those would work with your students. They are a great representation of each curriculum as a whole. It's also easy to modify the resources with the included Google Docs and variety of options for each lesson. This makes it easy to make things a little more advanced or simple depending on the group you are teaching. ARE LESSONS RESEARCH BASED & ALIGNED TO STANDARDS? Yes to both! I originally developed my materials based on the Virginia Standards of Learning. These are rich, highly developed standards for each course. After I began sharing my materials on TpT, I researched and aligned the curriculum to other state standards like the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), California's History & Social Science content standards, and others. In addition, all of the lessons are developed based on research-based instructional strategies. In particular, Pooja Agarwal and Patrice Bain's book, Powerful Teaching: Unleash the Science of Learning. This is a fantastic book by a cognitive scientist and a veteran classroom teacher filled with evidence-based classroom recommendations that can be implemented without additional prep time or grading. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS SITE AND TPT? Thanks for checking out both! It's really up to your own personal preference. On my Teachers Pay Teachers page, I have unit bundles and curriculum available for immediate digital download. After purchasing, you download a zip folder of every PowerPoint, interactive notebook, worksheet, resource, etc. The lessons there are in PDF files for each unit. The benefits to this is that you get everything downloaded at once, all organized into unit folders, which you can keep on your computer or a USB. You also can always download any & all updates to them in the future. Here on this site, you get access to all these same resources, with the lesson plans online featuring links to videos and Google Docs, etc. These are more often updated, whereas TpT updates only happen once or twice a year. Each resource is downloaded individually as needed. As long as you maintain your membership, you get access to everything! Should you cancel, you keep only files you downloaded, but will lose log-in access to the lessons and links. Hope that makes sense :) Have more questions? I have a more detailed FAQ here. You can preview the curriculum here and reach out through Facebook, Instagram, or shoot me an email.
