ACCREDITATION


INTENDED LEARNERS

AIBD is designed and certified for the entire IBD healthcare team and includes
education for gastroenterologists, pediatric gastroenterologists, surgeons,
physicians, PhDs, researchers, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician
assistants, gastroenterology nurses, and residents/fellows/students. 


LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of the clinical track, participants should be better
able to:

 * Summarize disease activity assessment metrics important in clinical practice
 * Understand the positioning of IBD biologics and small molecules in the
   treatment of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis
 * Describe potential side effects with newer therapies and management of
   medication safety
 * Employ strategies to outline the optimal timing of surgery in patients with
   Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis 
 * Describe considerations for de-escalating, stopping, restarting, and
   switching therapies
 * Discuss the impact of pregnancy on IBD, of IBD on pregnancy, and optimal
   management of IBD in pregnancy
 * Outline strategies for the management of post-operative Crohn’s disease and
   Ulcerative Colitis
 * Describe management considerations for complex IBD cases involving
   extra-intestinal manifestations
 * Incorporate shared decision making into IBD practice
 * Recognize psycho-social contributors to patient compliance and adherence
 * Utilize interdisciplinary team approaches to IBD management
    


CREDIT CLAIMING

To be eligible for documentation of credit, participants must attend the full
activity and submit a completed evaluation form. Participants who complete the
evaluation online within 4 weeks of the live meeting will receive immediate
documentation of credit.


CONTINUING EDUCATION

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and
implemented by North American Center for Continuing Medical Education (NACCME)
and Imedex. NACCME is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy
Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide
continuing education for the healthcare team.

Maintenance of Certification – ABIM

Successful completion of this CME activity enables a participant to earn up to
24.25 MOC points towards the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM)
Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points
equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is NACCME’s
responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the
purpose of granting ABIM MOC Points. The deadline to claim MOC points is 60 DAYS
AFTER ACTIVITY . ABIM Diplomates will be asked to provide their identification
number and DOB.

The certificate is not the official record of your participation in the
activity. The official record of credit will be the information in
the CPE Monitor system. Following ACPE Policy, NACCME must transmit your claim
to CPE Monitor within 60 days from the date you complete
this CPE activity. NACCME is not able to report your claimed credit after this
60-day period. Eligibility for pharmacy credit is contingent upon the successful
completion of a post-test and/or evaluation for each activity or session
attended.
