Senior Housing: Community as an Antidote to Isolation

The US senior population is growing. However, many senior residents do not have
the financial resources necessary for a basic standard of living. Their
isolation and loneliness has been identified by experts as a great public health
risk. Understanding community as an antidote to isolation, MASS Design Group has
partnered with 2Life Communities to develop a model for high density housing
that prioritizes resident connections and communal activities linked to aging
well. This session will explore a framework that creates opportunities for
meaningful communal programming at a variety of scales and increases access to
green space, natural light, and fresh air. Using various projects in
Massachusetts as case studies, we will discuss design strategies that connect
seniors to the benefits of community. We will look at ways to balance the need
for density and efficiency with the creation of healthy environments that help
senior residents live better, longer.

Manufacturing Informed Design API on Forge

Today, building design decisions are not informed by what can be made.
Construction processes are iterative, manual, slow, and reactive, with high risk
and uncertainty. Data and tools are disconnected and don’t allow processes to
work at scale. In this session I'll go over our Manufacturing Informed Design
project and how it brings together our portfolio to inform the design process as
early as possible and how the Forge API we are developing for this will enable
our customers and partners to extend our solution. The Manufacturing Informed
Design API will be a simple way for customers to publish product templates from
Inventor into Construction Cloud or Fusion Team, discover those Product
Templates via the API or Revit and customize and insert variants from a simple
API. I will also cover how we are extending the Forge Viewer for simple, low/no
code configuration workflows.

Investigating the Geotechnical Modeler in Civil 3D

Managing geotechnical data in Civil 3D has been a challenge over the years.
Autodesk introduced the Geotechnical modeler for Civil 3D 2022. WIth this free
extension you can export subsurface data from gINT or another method and create
.csv files that will import directly into Civil 3D. This data will enable you to
display your borehole sticks in plan view, on a profile, and even export for 3D
use in Infraworks. We will review the workflow of how to manage your data with a
local database then import that data into an existing Civil 3D project. Then we
will focus on creating stratum surfaces and subsurface profiles from that data.
We will also review the sample files and the config file manipulating those to
change the styles of our boreholes including hatch patterns at a certain scale.
The end result will be a dynamically linked drawing containing geotechnical data
completely compatible with your Civil 3D design

Fusion 360 for Architects and Designers
While Fusion 360 is really focused on product design and development, there's
many times this wonderfully useful, flexible, and affordable tool comes in handy
when putting a building together! In this class we'll dive into using Fusion as
a design tool for building elements, show some real-world examples of it's use
on architecture projects, and talk about how to use Fusion along with Revit and
other BIM tools as part of the overall construction project. I'll show examples
of creative fabrication, generative design, FEA, sheet metal modeling, complex
organic forms, and digital fabrication; all things Revit isn't so hot at but
Fusion handles with ease. I'll also show examples of creating Revit Families
from Fusion imports. Come see why you'll want to add this tool to your creative
toolbox!

Innovative Generative Design in Revit and Civil 3d for a sustainable city
Flowell by Colas is a dynamic road signaling, helping security and road
congestion. Generative design was applied to design the electrical component of
this project. The solution starts from an existing condition 2D drawing in DWG,
creates the optimal configuration for the electrical network and creates a
detailed model in Revit. It is an application of generative design to solve
complex design challenges in the electrical discipline and support the decision
process. A scalable methodology that opens new possibilities for more effective
collaboration to validate ideas early on. It leverages computational design via
Dynamo for Civil 3D, design optimization via Generative Design and automation
via Dynamo for Revit. Visual programming is extended with Python modules to
interact with different software and manage intelligent electrical objects. The
generative design study uses electrical objects and implements the designer
preferences to create the network.

InfoWorks ICM and Civil3D: A Flood Modelers guide to Project Impacts
InfoWorks ICM assists engineers and designers in understanding projects impacts
on the environment. Extreme events continue to stress local and regional civil
infrastructure, and our tools and techniques must change as we design projects
in our communities. InfoWorks ICM enables team collaboration and empowers
engineers to reach beyond single purpose tools to evaluate various options
against a multitude of rainfall events within the context of the entire
watershed. This technical instruction class will provide users through a number
of considerations to preserve Civil 3D designs in evaluation of possible flood
damages across the wide range of flood scenarios.

Connected approach to designing plastic with Autodesk PDM collection
Design is rarely a perfectly linear and straightforward process. Often a single
tool cannot accommodate all the workflows and even when it does, it is rarely
the right fit. By leveraging the different tools within the Autodesk PDM
collection (Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, Desktop connector), designers and
engineers can now design, make and collaborate on products to reduce the lead
time faced in today's manufacturing. This course will cover the complete
workflow when designing parts for formative manufacturing - Injection molding.
From making a mold in Inventor to validating your part for Injection molding in
Fusion 360, the Autodesk PDM collection helps you connect these workflows right
on your Desktop using Fusion 360 desktop connector.

Deploy Better Plugins Faster Through CI/CD and Unit Testing in Azure DevOps
At Woods Bagot we managed to cut the deployment time of our tools from days to
minutes, while increasing quality and reliability, by repurposing common
concepts and tools from the Software Development world. By implementing a DevOps
philosophy in your workflow, not only do you deliver automation tools quicker,
but you also empower your teams from the start, improving communication and
collaboration and promoting professional growth. You increase quality and
reliability of the software product deployed, thanks to automated testing and a
faster feedback cycle. Moreover, with the ability of more frequent faster
releases, backed up by live monitoring systems, developers can deploy tools that
are tailored to the users and really respond to their needs. The session will
showcase how Woods Bagot has developed a full workflow for their Revit toolbar

14 NEW Topography Tools by Environment for Revit (But who's counting...)

A great many AEC professionals around the globe still have this misconception
that Revit® is not suitable for landscape and site design. While this may have
been true in the past, we, at Arch-Intelligence, are proving this idea utterly
wrong! With BIM the de-facto standard in the industry, landscape professionals
are increasingly being asked or mandated to adapt their workflows to the BIM
approach and technologies. A fast-growing number of these designers are finding
that Environment for Revit® is not only the answer to their woes, but that it is
opening up a whole new world of design opportunities. In this class, landscape
architect and in-house Revit guru, Nehama Shechter Baraban, will guide you
through Environment’s broad and versatile set of Topography Tools. Join us and
learn how to effortlessly inflate and smooth surfaces, correct missing survey
data, build topographies related to their surroundings, move Civil data between
Revit and other platforms, and much more.

São Paulo Metro Line 6: Resuming largest infrastructure project in LATAM

15 km metro line with 15 stations developed in Sao Paulo, Line 6 is the largest
public-private infrastructure project under development in Latin America and one
of Acciona’s largest project. And resuming it has its challenges. The size of
the project, the complex and diverse city environment in which it takes place,
the large network of stakeholders, and one extra challenge: a contract resumed
after several years of being on-hold. BIM had been implemented across most
disciplines, allowing a smooth resume helped by point clouds and our
topographers, providing daily feedback to our Engineering team. With the help of
Autodesk Docs as a CDE, we have achieved the transversality of information and
it has become a key tool for: project review, design interface &
constructability solutions. In times of pandemic, ACC has facilitated the
coordination and collaboration between different teams and countries, ensuring
that the key stakeholders had access to the latest data, anytime and anywhere.

AECO: How Owners Can Bridge the Gap Between AEC and Operations
The moment a new facility opens, the data needed to operate it is immediately
out of date. The disconnect between building design, construction, and
operations is real and it significantly impacts building owners. The ability to
locate and service critical assets from day one is compromised, risking asset
performance, service quality and operational efficiency that only gets worse as
time goes on. Sophisticated integrations between Autodesk and modern IWMS
platforms like Archibus are streamlining this process and closing the gap.
Better knowledge transfer from design to operation ensures a smoother
transition, better design, and more efficient operations that significantly
reduces costs, delivers a higher-quality occupier experience, and more. Join us
to learn how organizations are leveraging these systems to maximize operational
performance and extract data from their physical environment to make more
informed decisions that strengthen their future.

IC Curriculum that Brings Industry and Academia Together
In recent years we have seen accelerated adoption of Industrialized Construction
(IC). As organizations begin their transformation journey towards IC, the role
of culture, skills, technology and processes increases in importance. What
stands out is the need to shift our thinking, behaviors, and process to
facilitate this change. Above all, transformation cannot occur without highly
skilled graduates entering the workforce. Motivated by this need, we released an
open-source curriculum entitled “Industrialized Construction for the built
environment lifecycle.” We explore how to use the curriculum and discuss the
benefits to students, educators, and industry professionals through case studies
of universities who have implemented the curriculum. This panel discussion will
highlight the status of developing a roadmap where stakeholders can work
together to enable graduates with knowledge of interdisciplinary skills required
to embrace IC to succeed in the transformation process.

the gap between the physical & digital project, collecting information that would
help us in design, construction & facility management at a later stage.
Throughout only the past year,TMG has received more than 3,000 intelligent
models & thousands of related documents all in different design & construction
stages-from external & internal partners spread across the globe. We've
centralized all project information using cloud collaboration & data analysis
tools. We've also been able to manage workflows & issues among different
consultants & contractors all over the world in a smart and easy way.TMG is now
one of the largest firms in the Middle East, leading the digital transformation

Digital Transformation for Multi-Site Owners
Multi-site owners have unique challenges. These companies must view digital
transformation and technical value-add opportunities through the lens of
scalability, standardization, and repeatability. In this panel, Kyle (VP Ops,
VIATechnik) will moderate a conversation between digital leaders from three
unique multi-site owners: Xavier Loayza, Design Technology Lead at Chick-fil-A;
Sean Christopher, Sr Preconstruction Manager at Amazon; and Joel Shatterly, Head
of Design at Compass Coffee. We will dig into what makes the digital building
journey so challenging, unique, and impactful for multi-site owners. We'll
discuss techniques, lessons learned, and opportunities for multi-site owners to
properly leverage VDC solutions, digital twins, and digital project delivery.
And we'll hear what makes these three owners unique in their approaches to
digital transformation.

Visualization in Minutes: Exploring Twinmotion’s Bag of Tricks
Instant feedback transforms ideas—especially during the design stage. But only
when it’s accessible. In this class, you’ll learn how to elevate Revit models in
a matter of minutes, using an ecosystem that’s surprisingly simple. Twinmotion
for real-time visualization, Sketchfab/Quixel for assets, Unreal Engine for when
you want to run wild—see how each element comes together to help designers
explore more “what ifs?”, without compromising intent or quality.

Fundamentals of Signal Integrity - why is it important?
Autodesk and Ansys will be announcing very exciting news for users that are
designing PCBs during the 2022 Autodesk University. One of the main concerns
today for every PCB designer is Signal Integrity. In the past, Signal Integrity
analysis was required only for cutting-edge technology products, but today
almost every product includes an antenna, a CPU, DRAM and signa integrity
becomes an integral part of the development process, including electromagnetic
compatibility certification. Since Signal Integrity is a relatively new
discipline, not all PCB layout designers have all the necessary technical
background and experience to make them feel confident in this field. The purpose
of this class is to provide an overview of the fundamentals of Signal Integrity
highlighting its importance for product development and certification.

Where is your next project?
Can you imagine what would happen if you could have a complete view of your area
right at the moment you really need it? Even before you draw the first line in a
blank AutoCAD or Civil 3D drawing at the very beginning of the preliminary
design? Many good things, but given that redesigns and reworks are among the
most significant threats to the practicability and sustainability of
construction projects worldwide, you would avoid bad decisions and design errors
that could lead to time wastage, schedule derailing and cost overruns. In this
30-minute class, Dr. Nick Chanakoulas, Civil Engineer and Head of Customer
Success at Plex-Earth, introduces the concept of Remote Surveying. Through
project cases, you will learn how to apply its holistic approach by integrating
aerial and satellite time-based imagery, detailed terrain modeling, 3D drone
data, and real-world design validation techniques in Google Earth's environment,
as part of your design process. So, where is your next project?

Why Hazen and Sawyer chose ACC Design over other Doc. Management Systems
In this session we’ll discuss why Hazen chose to implement the Design features
of Autodesk Construction Cloud for Civil 3D, Plant 3D, and Revit after
extensively testing a variety of other Document Management Systems (Nasuni,
Panzura, ProjectWise, BIM 360). Things covered will be: How testing was
performed and over what time frame. The key factors that led to Hazen to choose
ACC. What our experience was with each DMS. How Hazen is transitioning to ACC
from other Document Management Systems. What the positives and negatives are of
utilizing ACC Design. What our internal feedback has been from both Designer,
Engineers, and Project Managers. What improvements Autodesk can implement to
make ACC even better. Along the way we’ll provide details on ACC workflows Hazen
has developed and their resulting project efficiencies. We’ll also touch on the
possibilities of future ACC implementation around the Takeoff and Build
features.
