THE MAGIC IN NEW BEGINNINGS

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2021 • SHELBY'S THOUGHTS

It’s that time of year again! Today, August 11th is officially my 26th birthday.
I can say that this birthday is going much better than last year. On last year’s
birthday post, I left you on a depressed note because that season of life was
very difficult for me. This year though I’m feeling a lot better. It’s amazing
how much difference a year can make.

HOW TO WRITE MORE WORDS IN LESS TIME

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2021 • WRITING TIPS

We all lead busy lives where our time seems to always get the better of us. We
want to write and finish our projects, but also work full-time and have other
responsibilities. But what if I could tell you have to maximize your small chunk
of writing time, so you could write more words? Would you try it? Today, we’re

MY WORD OF THE YEAR FOR 2021

SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 2021 • SHELBY'S THOUGHTS

We have finally almost made it through the first month of 2021! Cue the
fireworks and celebration for surviving 2020! If I had known all of the things
that would have happened last year, I probably wouldn’t have chosen “bliss” to
be my word of the year in 2020. It was a tough year to live by the word bliss,
but the more I reflected on my year, I found that there were plenty of nuggets
of bliss. These nuggets of bliss meant my word wasn’t a total failure. Before I
reveal my word of the year for 2021, let’s review how I lived by “bliss” in
2020.

HOW TO USE SAVE THE CAT IF YOU'RE A PANTSER

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2020 • WRITING TIPS

There are two types of people when it comes to NaNoWriMo: the plotter and the
pantser. I am proudly a pantser, so I have spent a lot of my writing time trying
to let my freedom flag fly while also trying to not write myself into a corner.
Earlier this year, I was introduced to Save The Cat Writes a Novel by Jessica
Brody. This book has revolutionized my writing life and I believe that it can
help even the wildest pantser. Today, I’m sharing how you can use the principles
of Save The Cat Writes a Novel even if you don’t plot.

HOW I PREPARED FOR NANOWRIMO 2020

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2020 • WRITING LIFE

Preptober is in full swing over here in Shelby writing land. This past Saturday,
I took the time to do my own prep for NaNoWriMo. In order to prep though, I had
to decide what project I was going to do for NaNo 2020.

This is a yearly event where writers attempt to write 50,000 words during the
month of November. During the month of October, in honor of Preptober, I will be
sharing a blog post every week to get you ready for NaNoWriMo. This week, I’m
