SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Santa Rosa County School District has made some
changes to a partnership it had with an online tutor.

The district shared a statement with WEAR News on Tuesday, saying it "has
suspended the use of Tutor.com as a supplemental tutoring resource for students
and will be moving to a different tutoring platform after spring break."

The district did not share any other information about why the changes are being
made.

Two weeks ago, WEAR News reported parents had expressed concerns about the
online tutoring service's alleged ties to Chinese nationals.

Tutor.com's website says it is controlled by Primavera Holdings Limited -- a
firm owned by Chinese nationals.

Tutor.com sent us a statement saying it is an American company and shares no
personal data with Primavera.

The school district shared a statement then saying, "we follow the law and will
never intentionally put students or their information in harm's way."

The district also noted significant academic progress attributed to the use of
Tutor.com, "further underscoring its commitment to student success"
