Grace Harvey loved every second her debut Paralympic final - now she wants a
medal to match her team-mate.

Harvey already has happy memories of Japan - it was here, while attending a team
training camp, that she was able to walk for the first time thanks to a robotic
suit developed by Suzuka University.

And she was all smiles again after finishing sixth in the women's SM6 200m
medley final, won by team-mate Maisie Summers-Newton in a new world record.

Harvey, 22, finished nearly nine seconds behind her Summers-Newton and just
behind defending champion Eleanor Simmonds, clocking a time of 3.05.58 that was
just outside her personal best.

"I'm really happy with my performance, it's another learning experience for me
and my first Paralympic final," said Harvey, a biology student at the University
of Manchester.

"I would have liked to have been a little bit closer to my personal best but I
backed up my swim in the heats and I can't be disappointed.

"I've got the breaststroke on Saturday - I've been putting a lot of work into
that in training and I just can't wait to race it.

"I've been so excited about getting out here and it feels very special finally
be a Paralympian."

Harvey, who has cerebral palsy, counts Simmonds as her greatest swimming idol,
though perhaps she now has a new hero to admire.

"Maisie is such an amazing swimmer, the class that girl has is just awesome. She
just powers through that pool and that was such a top win," added Harvey, who is
able to train full-time and benefit from world class facilities, technology,
coaching and support teams thanks to National Lottery funding.

"When I saw the Ukrainian girl get her world record in the heats, I knew Maisie
was going to respond, she's such a fearsome competitor.

"It just the talent we have in Britain to have three girls from Britain in that
final, it's just a great place to be and such an inspiring team to be part of."

Harvey has two more events at the Games, with the 100m breaststroke on Saturday
followed next Monday by the 50m butterfly.

No one does more to support our Olympic and Paralympic athletes than National
Lottery players, who raise around £36 million each week for good causes
