MAKING INNOVATION POSSIBLE

When we join together, we can achieve what others have only dreamed of. An
immunologist working with a data scientist, a patient with a clinical trialist,
a donor with a cancer biologist — these partnerships make innovation possible
across scientific divisions, across the world, across boundaries that stop
others in their tracks.

Read our 2021 Annual Report to learn how your partnership fueled important new
scientific strides — and take a look at what we see coming next.

Gene Regulation & Expression

REVEALING FUNDAMENTAL CELL MACHINERY

Dr. Steven Hahn studies the components of the molecular machines that make
messenger RNA, the molecules that transmit the information in our genes to the
protein-building factories in our cells, and how they work together. Hahn’s
insights help researchers understand when the machinery’s function has changed,
and how that change could shape disease.

Disease Prevention

MAKING HPV VACCINE POSSIBLE

Dr. Denise Galloway's pioneering work on virus-like particles and the link
between HPV and cervical cancer paved the way for the cancer-preventive human
papillomavirus vaccine. And her investigations into the ways that certain
viruses promote cancer allowed her to develop a diagnostic test to predict a
recurrence of the deadly skin cancer Merkel cell carcinoma.
