  DR. ALI AFZAL

Dr. Afzal is currently the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Seed Association.
In this prominent role, he is at the forefront of enhancing the seed industry in
Bangladesh, ensuring the availability of high-quality seeds to farmers, and
promoting agricultural sustainability. His leadership and expertise are crucial
in driving initiatives that support the agricultural community and boost the
nation's food security.

Dr. Ali Afzal is a distinguished scientist, plant breeder, and business leader
who has dedicated his career to advancing agricultural innovation and fostering
socio-economic development in Bangladesh. With over 19 years of research
experience at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Dr. Afzal
has made significant contributions to the field of plant breeding, developing 22
varieties of food legume crops that have greatly benefited farmers and
agricultural communities.

Since 2009, Dr. Afzal has served as the Managing Director of Krishibid Group, a
leading agriculture-based conglomerate in Bangladesh. Under his visionary
leadership, Krishibid Group has grown to encompass 28 private and public
companies, all focused on various aspects of agriculture and agro-based
industries. His guidance has been instrumental in the development of 66 crop
varieties through the Group's Research & Development (R&D) team, creating a
substantial impact on both national and international agriculture sectors.

Dr. Afzal's commitment to sustainable socio-economic development is reflected in
his involvement in numerous professional and social organizations. He holds key
positions in several national and international bodies, contributing to
policy-making, research advancements, and the promotion of agricultural
sciences. His efforts have been recognized with multiple prestigious awards,
including the Mother Teresa Award for contributions to the agro-industry and the
Nelson Mandela Award for business and social services.

With a Ph.D. in Genetics & Plant Breeding, Dr. Afzal's expertise spans
agro-based industry development and management. He has attended and presented at
various international workshops and conferences, furthering his knowledge and
sharing his innovative approaches with the global scientific community. His
prolific contributions to research are evidenced by his 91 published articles in
renowned journals, enhancing the understanding and practices within the
agricultural sector.

Dr. Afzal's vision extends beyond business achievements. He is passionately
committed to creating a poverty and hunger-free Bangladesh, utilizing his
scientific expertise and business acumen to drive initiatives that improve the
quality of life for farmers and the broader community. Through Krishibid Group

MD OF KRISHIBID GROUP RECEIVED CREST IN A PROGRAM ON MODERN DAIRY FIRM
MANAGEMENT

A program on “Modern dairy firm management; challenges and prospects for
Bangladesh” was held in Cox’s Bazaar. Mr. Narayon Chandra Chanda, Minister of
Fisheries and Livestock of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh was present in the
event as chief guest. Special guest of the program Dr. Ali Afzal, the Managing
Director of the Krishibid Group has received special crest from the chief guest
in the program.

  KRISHIBID FIRM LIMITED (KFL)

The KFL, established in the year 2001, is the mother firm and holding company of
the KG. The KFL usually initiates and nurses new projects and at maturity those
are registered as independent companies. It is governed by a Board of Directors.
The policies and decisions taken by the Board are executed by an Executive
Committee (EC) elected by the Directors. All business expansion policy, planning
and financial works of the KFL & her sister concerns are approved by KFL Board
and subsequently implemented by the respective company's management. The KFL's
success in sponsoring agro-based industries has made significant contribution to
the country's GDP. KFL has achieved ISO 9001:2008 Certification for its
excellent corporate management and culture. Krishibid Firm Ltd. is also a member
of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Asia Pacific Seed Association
&Bagladesh Seed Association.


  GLORIOUS LANDS AND DEVELOPMENT LIMITED (GLDL)

The GLDL is a real estate company established in 2004. It has developed large
housing areas at Birulia, about 1.5 km North West of Mirpur, Dhaka. The company
possesses about 250 hectares of land that accommodates 3000 plots with provision
of all modern civic facilities. These plots are purchased and owned mostly by
professional agriculturists. The company has also purchased land at KUAKATA, the
most attractive Tourist Area in the South West of the country for future
development as Holiday Suite and Five Star Hotels. GLDL is a member of REHAB &
BLDA and is also enlisted with RAJUK.


  KRISHIBID POULTRY LIMITED (KPL)

The KPL was established in 2005 for commercial production of broilers and
chicken eggs. The farm is at Guziam village of Bhaluka, Mymensing. A six storied
layer farm accommodates more than 80000 birds having daily production of about
40000 eggs. The farm has a land area of 15 hectares with 30% watersheds and 20 %
highlands. The poultry farm is isolated from human habitation and is located
about 2 kilometers inside the main high ways. Krishibid Poultry Limited (KPL) is
a member of Poultry Science Association.


  KRISHIBID PROPERTIES LIMITED (KPL)

The Krishibid Properties Limited emerged as a sister concern of the Krishibid
Group in 2008 to resolve the residential housing problems of middle class and
low income agriculturists and other service holders in and outside the capital
city of Dhaka. The Krishibid Properties Limited is engaged in building modern
apartments and commercial spaces using best quality materials but at a
relatively lower cost. So far, KPL has completed and handed over 200 such
apartments and arround 1000 apartments are underway for completion. Krishibid
Properties Limited is a member of REHAB (1136/2011). All the buildings of KPL
are designed by highly qualified and experienced architects & engineers as per
ACI and Bangladesh National Building code.


  KRISHIBID SALT LIMITED (KSL)

Krishibid Salt Ltd. cultivates salt in an area of 400 hectares of land at
Moheshkhali, Cox's Bazaar and also refines salts for home and industrial
consumption at Islampur. The company has planned to establish an automatic salt
industry at Islampur, salt industrial zone, to utilize its raw salt produced at
Moheshkhali, for manufacturing quality salt. KSL is a member of salt Mills
Association. There some other projects under KSL are : Plantation &Nursary,
Chicken & Buffalo, Fish Pond & Agro-Tourism.


  KRISHIBID FEED LIMITED (KFL)

An automatic feed mill has been set up to manufacture poultry, cattle and fish
feeds of different types. It markets high quality feeds. The mill has a capacity
of manufacturing 9 ton floating and sinking feeds per hour. It is located at
Nishinda Bazar of Bhaluka, Mymensingh on Dhaka-Mymensingh High Way. The mill is
producing both floating and sinking feeds for fish and shrimps. It production
poultry feed of all kinds. Besides, it will produce quality cattle feeds. All
environmental protection is ensured within and around the mill area. Krishibid
Feed Mill is equipped with all modern processing and production machineries and
hence guarantees supply of quality products to its customers. Krishibid Feed
Limited (KFL) is a member of Feed Industry Association of Bangladesh (FIAB).
Planning is going on toenchnace the production capacity of the mill in the near
future.


  GLORIOUS OVERSEAS LIMITED (GOL)

A number of foreign countries consider Bangladesh as a major source of
technical, skilled and unskilled manpower. The Glorious Overseas Ltd. is a
company of KG that aims to develop human resources through specialized technical
training in order to compete for overseas job opportunities. The skilled
manpower would become assets of the country and they will find better jobs in
the overseas countries. This company intends to provied honest, efficient and
quick services to the valued foreign employers for recruitment and development
of skilled manpower.


  KRISHIBID STOCKS & SECURITIES LIMITED (KSSL)

Krishibid Stocks & Securities Ltd. (KSSL) started functioning in the year 2010.
KSSL is still at its infant stage and has to walk a long way for becoming a full
fledged agency of National Stock Exchanges (DSE and CSE). KSSL aims to raise
capital for businesses, mobilize savings for investment and facilitate company
growth as well as raising capital for financing Krishibid Group. The immediate
mission of KSSL is to trade in shares (i.e. buying and selling primary and
secondary shares) through a broker, opening B.O. accounts and gaining commission
through transactions. KSSL intends to obtain membership of Dhaka Stock Exchange.


  KRISHIBID FARM MACHINERIES &AUTOMOBILES LIMITED (KFMAL)

This is a new company of KG that aims to import quality vehicles from Japan,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Korea for local sales and also to develop an
assembly plant to assemble imported CKD vehicles. In addition, the companey is
additing up a modern repair and maintenance workshops for providing top class
routine and back up maintenance services with facilities for automatic diagnosis
and fault detection systems. Besides, KFMAL has a plan to import high quality
farm machinery suitable for local conditions with an aim to enhance agricultural
production in Bangladesh. Thus, KFMAL aims to enhance agricultural mechanization
and raise the living standards of the millions of farmers by creating favorable
environment through access to appropriate farm machinery.

Krishibid Fisheries Limited (KFL), another new sister concern of KG, has started
its journey in 2011 with an established hatchery located at Bahadurpur, under
TrishalUpazilla of Mymensingh with 13 hectares of ponds and low lands. It has
already started breeding quality fish seeds and marketing them at wholesale as
well as retail markets. Fisheries ponds in Bahuli and Poultry farm areas in
Valuka have been merged with this company for growing table fish and fingerlings
of various culture fishes. Further extension of fish ponds is under way.

The KMCSL was established to encourage the Krishibids for a secured savings and
investments. It follows the rules and procedures of the Co-operative Societies
of the Government of Bangladesh. The society directly invests shareholders’
money in different business enterprises as well as in the KG - companies. At
present KMCSL has more than 3000 members. Paid up capirtal of KMCSL is now about
Tk: 700 million. KMCSL has a plan to cover whole of Bangladesh as its operating
domain and include all Krishibids as its members in the future. It is registered
with the Directorate of Co-operative.


  KRISHI FOUNDATION (KF)

The foundation is a non-profit organization established to carry out corporate
social responsibilities (CSR) of Krishibid Group. Krishi Foundation is also
committed to promote agricultural science and technology as well as to assist
underprivileged people of the society through capacity building e.g. providing
education, training and employment, income generation, healthcare and medicine.

  GLORIOUS TECHNICAL INSTITUTE (GTI)

Glorious Technical Training Institute (GTTI) was initiated in order to add value
through imparting training to the young generation which constitutes a major
portion of the mass people of Bangladesh. The goal of this project is to convert
them into effective manpower in order to alleviate poverty throughout the
country. The institute was founded in 2008 as a project under Krishi Foundation.
The Institute has been approved by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board to
conduct trade courses of 6 months duration. Presently, GTTI is located at Goran,
Chatbari (on the west side of National Botanical Garden) Section-1, Mirpur,
Dhaka 1216. Courses on Welding, Electrical, Technicial, Automechanics, Plumbing
and Civil Construction are currently being conducted as per approvla of
Bangladesh Technical Education Board. The Institute is administered by a
Governing Body headed by Professor Dr. R I Sharker as Chair and Dr. M A Mazed as
Principal


  GLORIOUS UNIVERSITY (PROPOSED)

Krishibid Group had envisioned to establish a world class university that is now
going to be a reality as Glorious University (GU). It will be a unique
multidisciplinary private university fully committed to ensure standard and
excellence in higher education. The sponsor of the University is the
KrishiFoundation which is supported by well-established professionals –
agriculturists, scientists and scholars. The vision of this university is to
establish, sustain and develop a center of excellence in higher education and
research appropriate to the needs and aspirations of the nation. This
multidisciplinary university aims at providing intellectual leadership in the
field of higher education, through creation and dissemination innovative
knowledge and technology and by developing meaningful collaboration with
universities both within and outside the country. The physical situation of the
GU will be at Kamolapur of Savar, about 2 KM South - West from Mirpur National
Botanical Garden, Dhaka city. The university will be governed by a 13- member
Board of Trustee.

  PUBLICATION SUMMARY

Dr. Ali Afzal is actively involved in varietal improvement program on grain
legume crops namely lentil, mungbean and blackgram science 1992. He is also
working with varietal improvement program on chickpea, grasspea, cowpea and
fieldpea. In addition Mr. Afzal is successfully operating a national project
entitled “Lentil Blackgram and Mungbean Development Pilot Project”, DFID, UK
funded Mungbean Project ACIAR, Australia founded Chickpea BGM Project as Deputy
Project Director. Meanwhile he published the 91 articles following categories.

Journal Articles

Dr. Ali Afzal has published 24 scientific papers in both national and
international Journals and 9 varieties were registered in Crop Science USA.
Another 5 journal article is awaiting for publish.

Proceedings Papers

Dr. Afzal attended many National and International workshop. Meanwhile he has
published 17-workshop papers in the edited proceedings.

Technical Bulletins (Folder)

For the fulfillment of the continuous farmers demand and boost up the pulses
production Dr. Afzal produced 27 technical bulletin/folder on modern production
technology packages on different food legumes and distributed the same to the
farmers and extension agencies. He organized TOT and farmers training for
dissemination of pulses technology.

Books

Dr. Afzal published 09 books each on modern production package of different
pulses. These books are helpful for field worker, research assistant and
progressive farmers. Its’ create tremendous impact for increasing pulses
production in Bangladesh.

Annual Report

Dr. Afzal published 5 Annual Report and another 4 is awaiting for publish under
lentil blackgram and mungbean development pilot project.

Poster

Dr. Afzal published 5 colorful attractive posters, which are very useful for
farmers’ motivation and help to pulses production in Bangladesh.

Dr. Afzal also associated with the Journal of Agriculturists and BGM News letter
