WHAT IS AN IP ADDRESS?

An IP address is allocated to every device that connects to the internet. This
IP address identifies the device connected to the WWW network and allows data to
be routed to or via this device.  It is possible to have a static IP address
(one that is permanently allocated to a device) or a dynamic address (one that
changes every time you reset you router or PC.

SHOULD I USE A VPN?

Perhaps the most effective way to change your digital identity is to sign up for
a VPN (Virtual Private Network), a service which allows you to mask your IP with
a shiny new virtual one, whenever you like and generally rotate it
periodically.  I see the oracle browser OPERA is offering this service FREE,  a
sign of things to come.

Most VPNs give you a choice of IPs from 20 or more countries around the world,
allowing you to appear as though you’re in the US, UK, Fareast, Asia, or
wherever else you need to be. If you can’t access US-only web content because
you’re somewhere else in the world, getting a US IP address from a VPN might be
enough to get you in.
