The Organic Policy & Guarantee department coordinates our work supporting the
improvement of organic standards and verification systems. 

RECOGNITION OF CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS

To foster equivalence and complement the IFOAM Family of Standards,
IFOAM-Organics International has set up a program of recognition of conformity
assessment systems, such as government organic accreditation programs. 

PGS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) are revisiting the way organic
certification started a few decades ago. At the same time, many PGS have existed
for over 40 years.

OFFICIAL PGS RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Through the Official IFOAM PGS Recognition program, we evaluate whether a PGS
initiative operates in accordance with the Key PGS Elements and Features and
verify the integrity of a PGS vis-à-vis the Principles of Organic Agriculture.

GLOBAL PGS NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

The Global PGS Newsletter was a bi-monthly e-newsletter with updates on
developments in Participatory Guarantee Systems around the world, published from
2009 to 2018.

Factsheet: Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health
of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity
and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with
adverse effects.
