Valentine’s Day is coming up, which means that people’s favorite girls’ night
out (or in) is also coming up: Galentine’s Day. Romance is important, but so are
friendships, so here are 10 different ways to celebrate your friendships with
your gal pals.

1. SOAK AND RELAX IN A SPA NIGHT

Anna Shvets / Pexels

There's nothing better than a spa night with the girls! Get your face masks,
candles, and nail polish, and get ready for some relaxing fun.

2. CRUSH IT AT KARAOKE

Mikhail Nilov / Pexels

Sing your heart out with your best friends! Music is always the best way to
express yourself.

3. BRING ON THE COMPETITION WITH SOME GAMES

cottonbro / Pexels

Whether it's board games, card games, or plain old charades, games are an easy
way to have a long night of fun.

4. WHISK THE NIGHT AWAY WITH WINE AND CHARCUTERIE

Helena Lopes / Pexels

Wine, cheese, and good friends: what could go wrong?

5. CRY IT OUT WITH YOUR FAVORITE ROM-COMS

Ron Lach / Pexels

Choosing between a cheesy rom-com or a teary romance is always hard, but you can
at least guarantee a good cry. Whether it's of laughter or of sadness is up to
you!

6. LET'S GET THIS BREAD (AND ASSORTED BAKED GOODS)

Ivan Samkov / Pexels

Communal baking is incredible. Between the amazing aromas and the delicious
goods, you and your friends are in for outstanding night.

7. MAKE A MESS (AND MAYBE SOME NICE CRAFTS TOO)

Kaboompics .com / Pexels

A night to remember, partially because of all of the crafts, but also because of
all the fun you'll have.

8. SPILL THE LITERAL (AND MAYBE FIGURATIVE) TEA

Jill Wellington / Pexels

Tea parties may seem childish, but there's a certain charm to them when you and
all of your friends are together.

9. GALENTINE'S GIFT EXCHANGE

Mikhail Nilov / Pexels

There may not be such a thing as a perfect gift, but there is such a thing as a
perfect idea, and that's this! A Galentine's Gift Exchange is one for any and
every group of friends.

10. GRAB YOUR LIGHTS, GRAB YOUR CAMERA: PICTURE TIME!

Lisa Fotios / Pexels

Can everyone say cheese? Photo shoots are an easy avenue to memory lane, and
they are also a fun way to spice up any night.

EVERY LADY GAGA ALBUM, RANKED

WE RANK LADY GAGA'S IMPRESSIVE AND VERSATILE DISCOGRAPHY!

Rocco Papa

Lady Gaga has become an icon in pop culture. So much of what people see is her
iconic fashion choices or her theatrical stage presence. However, her music is
the primary example of her artistic talent.

With five albums, Lady Gaga has shown her power and versatility. From dance
music to folk rock to jazz standards, here's our ranking of every Lady Gaga
album.

9. "LOVE FOR SALE" (WITH TONY BENNETT)

Her most recent album is a collection of jazz standards with the legendary Tony
Bennett. The album serves as a tribute to the late Cole Porter. It's been said
that this will be Bennett's final album. It's been nominated in this year's
Grammy Awards.

8. "CHEEK TO CHEEK" (WITH TONY BENNETT)

The first collaborative album Gaga and Bennett created was released in 2014.
This was the first of many moments where Gaga would showcase different sides of
her talent in the years to come. Gaga's interpretation of these songs take them
to another place and she makes them her own.

7. "A STAR IS BORN" (SOUNDTRACK, WITH BRADLEY COOPER)

Since this is a soundtrack, it's clear Gaga is writing from the perspective of a
character. However, these are still her songs and her talent shines front and
center. Bradley Cooper surprises people with his singing ability and serves as
another great collaborator for Gaga.

6. "BORN THIS WAY"

With "Born This Way," Gaga touched a generation of young people and inspired
them to be themselves. While the significance of her impact can't be ignored,
this was when it started to feel like the creativity was being forced.
Lyrically, this album isn't her best. However, one can't deny the absolute
bangers that occupy most of the track list.

5. "ARTPOP"

"ARTPOP" was one of the most anticipated albums of 2013. However, it seemed to
be considered a disappointment as a result. Many felt Gaga promised too much and
couldn't deliver. Maybe the general public had moved on and the little monsters
were the only ones left. Whatever the reason, the music from this album was
still very good. It's a solid dance-pop album.

4. "JOANNE"

"Joanne" saw Gaga in a stripped-down mode following the overwhelming nature of
the "ARTPOP" era. It was a welcome and needed change of direction. It helped
Gaga make her most personal and heartfelt album, while still allowing her
personality to take center stage. The title track is named after and written for
her late aunt who passed from lupus.

3. "CHROMATICA"

Gaga has long discussed her mental health struggles and explores that theme on
this album. It was written during one of the darkest periods of Gaga's life,
however, the album is so full of life. It's lyrics detail a private struggle,
but it's music drag you onto the dance floor. This juxtaposition, along with its
focus, is what makes "Chromatica" one of her best albums.

2. "THE FAME"

Gaga's debut album showcases an ambitious spirit with a cheeky sense of humor.
Tracks like "Just Dance," "Poker Face," "LoveGame," and "Paparazzi" were huge
hits at the time. The album was an incredible debut that forced the music world
to take notice. In the early digital era, Gaga impressed many with her ability
to dominate the field.

1. "THE FAME MONSTER" (EP)

Written while on her debut tour, this album was initially supposed to be a
re-release of her first album. However, it ended up being an entirely new album
which explored Gaga's fears. These are topics she would delve into further down
the line. She collaborated with Beyoncé on "Telephone" and extended her
hit-making powers. She even wrote a song for her dad called "Speechless."

VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT IDEAS FOR MOMS AND KIDS 2022

VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT IDEAS

Hazel Jackson

IMPORTANCE OF VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS FOR MOMS AND KIDS

Even if you are all grown-up and married with kids, making your mother feel
special on Valentine’s day is never too far-fetched. You don’t really need to go
overboard with being too sophisticated and spending way too much. To make this
day memorable for your mother or even grandmother and mother-in-law you can just
give something thoughtful which is a token of love and gratitude. 14th February
isn’t just a reminder for romantic love for your significant other, it is
perhaps the day when you can show your loved ones how much they mean to you and
that you are thankful for everything they have done for you. If you are looking
for a more sentimental approach, gifts like matching mother and daughter
bracelets or customized photo frames work really well. For something utilitarian
which your mother would want includes something like a hand-knitted sweater or a
delicate vase full of fresh roses.

At school, kids are given the opportunity to make their classmates Valentine’s
gift cards as a token of friendship and platonic love which underscores these
relationships. They even prepare small presents for family members as a gesture
of goodwill. Thus, it is only fair that the kids should be made to feel loved by
reciprocating their efforts. However, be cognizant of the child’s likes and
dislikes. Some children prefer overtly rosy and pink-hearts covered surprises.
While others are more inclined towards keeping things subtle and not so
lovey-dovey.

SOME GIFT IDEAS FOR MOMS

PERSONALIZED BIRTHSTONE NECKLACE

This meaningful piece of jewelry can be worn frequently as a reminder of your
love for your mother. It has gemstones with the initials of either children or
grandchildren engraved on it, hanging on a silver or golden chain according to
your preference.

TURTLENECK OVERSIZED SWEATER

This soft and comfy sweater from Amazon is very cost-friendly and can be worn on
casual occasions pairing it with a legging. This will keep your mother warm in
the chilly winter season and you can choose from a pastel palette of colours
that fit your mother’s liking.

HAND CREAM SET

Winters are all about keeping your skin moisturized and soft. With these scented
not excessively oily hand creams, your mother can prevent the dry, crackly skin.
This gift-ready tin is definitely going to last long enough and be reasonable
for the price you paid for it.

RECIPE CUTTING BOARD

To make the gift even more personally-tailored, you can request one of your
mother’s favourite recipes to be engraved onto the surface of a woody, authentic
cherry or walnut cutting board. This can either be used as a set aside kitchen
decoration or may be used for chopping your ingredients.

DIAMOND HUGGIES

This doesn’t necessarily have to be real diamond to add value, you may buy these
artificial gemstone hoops to give a minimalist touch to complement your mother’s
style. The small size of these earrings will add a very subtle but elegant glam
to your mother’s attire.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER BRACELETS

This very sleek and polished bracelet on the outside has a very heartfelt
message engraved on the inside which is known to only you and your mother. It is
a symbol of your everlasting friendship and how it keeps cementing over time
despite the hardships you collectively overcome.

SOME GIFT IDEAS FOR KIDS

HEART POP FIDGET TOY

This toy has become a favourite amongst young children when it comes to bursting
the bubbles mindlessly for some giggly fun. They come in a pack of three with
vibrant colours. Sometimes they can be rainbow-coloured attracting kids just by
the look of it. It is perfect for kids of ages 3 and above.

TOGETHERNESS BEAR

This is the ideal gift for showing how two people are so dissimilar yet may be
connected by heart. The colourful swirls mean that no two bears are the same
just like humans who are unique. The Care Bear is for kids aged 4 and above.

CHOCOLATE COVERED OREO COOKIES

Perhaps there may never be a shred of doubt that children have a sweet tooth and
when these iconic DIY heart-shaped oreo cookies are presented to them, they are
going to love them instantly. Gobbling these treats within a matter of seconds
is what makes Valentine's day chocolatey one.

REVERSIBLE OCTOPUS PLUSHIE

Everyone, even adults, love a cute little plushie. But don’t let the jolly and
smiley, pink face fool you for reversing it, you will encounter a mad and angry,
grey face ready to spank you. The addition of a small heart on the happy face
and a broken one on the sad face perfectly indicate the mood of the child at any
moment.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BEING YOUR MOM

This fill-in-the-blank journal can be addressed from anyone close to the child,
be it his mom or dad. This can be used as a scrap book which can come around all
year even when the kid is all grown-up to freshen his memories and rekindle the
bond he had with his beloved family member.

TIE DYE LOUNGE SET

Since the past year, type dye fashion has been on the rise due to the casual and
colourful look it provides. You can pir up a t-shirt or hoodie with jogger pants
for a lounge wear set for your child. Pick any favourite color combination and
you are good to go.

KEEPING IT DRY AFTER DRY JANUARY

DRY

Kevin Bing
07 February

1436

Many of us embraced the new year with a "new year, new me" mentality.

With new year's resolutions set, many people have turned towards Dry January - a
movement where no alcohol intake is allowed for the month of January.

Dry January offers people the opportunity to review their habits - when and
where they drink the most.

Alcohol, Bar, Bear, Glass, Brewery, Flames, Drunk

Avoiding liquor for just one month may be doable, but what about the long term?

If you are inspired by the movement and want to permanently change your drinking
habits, here are some tips for giving up alcohol when January has ended.

Want to Stop Binge Drinking? Here is How!

For people with a serious problem, or unhealthy drinking habits, one
alcohol-free month will not cut it.

Although Dry January is a good start, some of you feel guilty to start drinking
again after a successful Dry January.

Perhaps you want to maintain healthy habits or enjoyed the money saved. Staying
dry after Dry January is easy if you follow these tips.

1) Have a Plan for Alcohol Consumption

If you are going to a social event and you are scared you might feel pressured
to consume alcohol, why not take along some non-alcoholic drinks (like the 0%
larger beer from Innis & Gunn).

Having a plan at social situations will prevent you from drinking alcohol.

If you think people may ask you why you are skipping the drinks, or are
pressuring you to have a drink, practice your refusal skills and have a reason
ready. Discuss your plan to cut back on alcohol with your friends and family
before the time, to make sure they understand.

2) Make a List of Pros and Cons

This is the time to convince yourself why you want to stop drinking heavily and
what you enjoy about being sober. A break from alcohol holds so many health
benefits.

When you cut down on drinks, you may experience an improved immune system, more
energy and even weight loss. You will also save money and feel sharper and more
clear-headed.

On the con side, liquor consumption may cause high blood pressure, liver
disease, a spike in blood sugar levels, and have a negative impact on your
overall health.

Do you enjoy a drink to take the edge off? Why not investigate other
stress-relief techniques, like exercising, meditation or practising mindfulness.

Picnic Table with Fruits and Alcoholic Drinks Standing on Green Meadow

3) Give Yourself A Break

You should not put pressure on yourself to be perfect right away. Even a
moderate drinker will have a hard time and experience some mild alcohol
withdrawal.

You will also not see any significant changes in your health straight after Dry
January, as it takes longer than a month to see results.

Even if you don't cut out alcohol entirely, just cutting back will help you feel
like an improved version of yourself.

Remaining Dry

It may be tough to stay motivated, but if you approach your post-Dry January
goals with a plan and conviction, it will be easy to shake your alcohol
dependency and enjoy all the positive effects that keeping it dry will offer
you.

'MOONFALL' IS RIDICULOUS BUT FUN

HERE'S THE LATEST DISASTER MOVIE FROM DIRECTOR AND WRITER ROLAND EMMERICH

Samantha Incorvaia

"Moonfall" is the latest disaster movie from writer and director Roland
Emmerich, whose most popular movies include "Independence Day," "The Day After
Tomorrow" and "2012."

That should tell the public all it needs to know. If viewers go into this movie
expecting a trash disaster film, they'll be entertained by a sci-fi movie that's
confident in what it's doing while meeting those expectations --- and a surprise
twist.

Moonfall (2022 Movie) Official Trailer – Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John
Bradley www.youtube.com

A mysterious mechanical force pushes the moon out of orbit and knocks the
celestial object closer toward Earth. With about three weeks until extinction, a
NASA executive named Jo Fowler (Halle Berry), a disgraced astronaut named Brian
Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist named K.C. Houseman (John
Bradley) try to accomplish the impossible and save the planet. Charlie Plummer,
Kelly Reilly, Michael Peña, Eme Ikwuakor and Donald Sutherland also star in this
film.

At one point in "Moonfall," K.C. chastises a couple of aerospace engineers who
calculated the moon's mass incorrectly. He even says "all your rules don't apply
anymore." And that accurately sums up the entire adventure.

Gravitational laws, cheesy dialogue deliveries and dumb character choices are
questionable, making this yet another silly and over-the-top disaster movie. If
movie-goers can survive a sleeper first half, the second half rewards them with
more action-packed scenes. However, time would be better spent if the focus
shifted on the main trio instead of their families on the ground. Hey, the
disaster scenes have to come from somewhere, right? But for this plot, it didn't
feel necessary.

It would be interesting to see someone take this movie's concept and present it
as a cerebral sci-fi thriller like "Arrival."

Flaws aside, there are some hidden gems in the chaos that make this one of
Emmerich's best films in the last 10 years. He explores an intriguing theory
about the moon and takes it to a whole other level when a plot twist happens.
And the visual effects are awe-inspiring as viewers learn more about the moon's
secrets.

On one final note, this movie gives Bradley a chance to shine. The actor, mostly
known for playing Samwell Tarly in "Game of Thrones," shows a wide range in
talent as a loveable space nerd. Viewers can't help but feel as excited as he is
to be on this journey.

For those who love Emmerich's early 2000's movies, "Moonfall" satisfies that
craving for a bygone generation of fun calamity blockbusters.

Score: 7/10

See "Moonfall" in theaters starting Friday, February 5, 2022. Follow the
reporter Samantha Incorvaia at @s_incorvaia.
