SENIOR SIKICH LEADS THE WAY FOR THE COUGARS AT GIRLS STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

VERONA — Brynn Sikich led the way for the Janesville Craig Cougars on Day One of
the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1 girls golf state
tournament at University Ridge Golf Course.

The senior shot an 85, 13-over-par, placing her as the top Cougar entering into
today’s final round. Sikich is tied for 29th place out of 85 competitors.

“It feels good to definitely help my team out,” Sikich said. “I warmed up good
this morning and then just had a good day.”

BY QUALIFYING FOR THE STATE TOURNAMENT, CRAIG GIRLS FINISH WHAT BEGAN LAST YEAR

Last season, the Janesville Craig High girls golf team was nine holes away from
earning a berth in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1
state tournament.

This year, the Cougars came through to earn the school’s first state tournament
berth in a non-COVID season.

The Cougars, along with Janesville Parker High individual qualifier Grace
Knilans, begin state tournament play this morning at University Ridge Golf
Course in Verona. The scheduled two-round event will conclude Tuesday.
