[Patreon] Happy 2021 Spring! Fundraising Post
posted on 29.04.2021 21:39 by CDB-Man

HAPPY 2021 SPRING!

Spring has sprung in the Northern Hemisphere! This spring marks the 3rd year
milestone since we first reached out to the AniDB community for assistance, back
in December 2017. It's now coming up on 3 years and a half years, and the
community support has been tremendous! Without you, we would not still be here
today. Thank you everyone for sticking with us and keeping AniDB around for
years to come!

With that, we’re pleased to announce our 2021 Spring fundraising post, and the
winner of our 2021 Spring Patreon banner contest; congratulations zyon666 for an
excellent banner!
We hope that everyone makes the most of spring. If you are in Japan right now,
and/or are fortunate enough to have sakura (cherry blossom) trees in your city,
join Mash Kyrielight in hanami (花見, "flower viewing") while they are in full
bloom!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AniDB was able to fund around 8 months from our last fundraising post in August
2020 this time.

This marks just under 3.5 years since AniDB became fully funded by the
community. We are very grateful for the continued and growing support from our
AniDB community.

Providing some history, the original goal back 3 years ago was to post monthly
to raise $250 USD/m, hoping for 100 people contributing $2.50 USD/m. Instead,
the community blew those expectations well out of the water; we currently have
over 350 supporters contributing over $2,000 USD per post, allowing us to only
fundraise twice a year, reducing the ask for everyone, both our supporters and
the staff team. Thank you for all the support and keeping the lights on at
AniDB!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone subscribed to our Patreon campaign before this post should be charged on
01-May-2021 for your contribution to AniDB. We try hard to be as frugal as
possible with your assistance, and try to avoid any build-up of excess outside
of our set emergency fund. Because of this, our next fundraising post will
likely not need to be until next 2021 Christmas or 2022 New Year's (2022
January). Refer to our Donations page for details. Thank you once again for your
support and keeping us running!
