Veeam Entra ID Backup Beta - Backup and Restore Overview

Dear community, I just managed to finish a new blog post regarding the Entra ID
Backup beta version. Currently I have many customers looking forward to the
feature release and I prepared an overview on my blog: 15 – Veeam Entra ID
Backup Beta – Backup and Restore – Disaster and Recovery
(disaster-und-recovery.de) Trying not to loose myself in a deep dive I tried to
address the integration into the well-known VBR GUI and the basic functionality
and different job types. Looking forward to licensing - hopefully we stay below

What my surprise this week, I found a relic, a working Veeam Version 7 Server !
Yes I know in term of cybersecurity risks we are right in the middle of it ! I

Index\Machines folder taking more space for one VM


Veeam server collecting too many files in the Index\Machines folder. The issue
is with only VM . The retention period is 20 restore points , but seeing more
than 20 folders with different dates. We are using Enterprise manager . Tried
deleting old folders from the index folder for this machine and monitored , but
still seeing more than 20 folders. I think retention is not working. Please
advise.

Ensure Data Integrity of Your Backup Chains with Veeam Health Check!

What is Health Check? A health check is a planned process within a backup or
backup copy job that helps ensure the data integrity of the backup chain. When
Veeam Backup & Replication initiates a health check, it performs a CRC check for
metadata and a hash check on VM data blocks. CRC Check stands for Cyclic
Redundancy Check. It is an error detection algorithm used to check whether data
is corrupted during transmission or storage. This algorithm calculates a CRC
value from the sent data and adds this value to the end of the data. The
receiving party calculates the same CRC value from the data it receives and
compares it with the sent CRC value. If the two values match, it means the data
is transferred or stored intact. Why Are Health Checks Important? Health checks
are important to ensure data consistency in the event of a disaster. Computers
can make mistakes. The more systems interact with each other, the greater the

Hello, well, the fun never ends. I moved a VM named ‘user01-Virtual-Machine
agent_vserver03’ from one folder to another folder on the same drive letter V:
The vm itself runs fine, no issues. Now, the backup fails. I tried to search
about the error and for 'HvGetVolumesByPaths', but foud nothing at all. Error:
Failed to call RPC function 'HvGetVolumesByPaths': The file or directory is not
a reparse point. Failed to retrieve reparse point data. I re-scaned the hyper-v
server, ‘VSERVER03’ but nothing changed.Note: this is a homelab, i am willing to
delete and re-do whatever.But, no idea what to try next. Maybe I should the
following, but hoping there is a less drastic solution? export vm delete vm
import vm in VBR, re-scan the standalone hyperv server re-create a backup job
and backup copy job

Veeam retention

We have veeam backup job running and retention period is 14 days. However I see
there is data for the backup job for over 20 days. What file is missing from the
backup file list that is causing this issues. Anything you can see that is
missing?

ANYONE, your assistance please ! "Failed to retrieve certificate" 1. Another
offsite DB file backup to azure Blob storage A passed for another server(db
server). 2. This same exchange server DB file successfully backups to an azure
blob storage B from BUEXEC. Why not for veeam 12.1?

Veeam Backup for Proxmox – Backup & Restore (Part 2)

This is part 2 of the blog series about Veeam Backup for Proxmox, which focuses
on backup and restore. Part 1 was about the architecture and setup; in case
you’ve missed it, you can find it here: Disclaimer: All information and
screenshots in this blog post are based on an early access release. Until the
final release changes can and will occur! Restoring/Migrating from VMware Before
we can start to backup systems running on Proxmox, of course we need to deploy a
VM. The first release of Veeam Backup for Proxmox will support cross-platform
restore, so I restored an existing Windows Server 2022 system from VMware to
Proxmox. The process isn’t much different from other platforms and doesn’t
require any special knowledge. In the storage tab, you need to select the
destination storage/datastore and define which type of disk (RAW, QCOW2, VMDK)
shall be used. After the restore completed, I noticed that the BIOS was set to
“SeaBIOS” by default. As Windows Server 2022 required UEFI to boot, I

Can anyone help with this restore issue?


Hi All I am having difficulty doing a full VM restore. I get the below error. I
do have a veeam ticket open but no results so far. I think this is a connection
issue. The address of 192.168.12.211 is my vCentre server. Im using Veeam
essentials 12 and vCentre 8.0 I can restore individual files, but not the entire
