Episode 2

Dearest Insiders, the torch light was dancing on the nighttime surf, the aria
was "Porgi Amor," the composer was Mozart, and the moment was magical. Whatever
resentments, hurt, and fear our characters may have sat down with, diva
Elizabeth Greenhorn's transcendent performance allowed Charlotte and Colbourne,
with a touch of hands that almost melted our screens, to momentarily put aside
their history and allow the depth of their feelings to find a connection. For
them, it created a temporary bubble; for Georgiana, the powerful performance
infused her with courage and fire. Find actor Crystal Clarke's insights on this
moment below, along with a real-history connection in Episode 2, a sneak peek at
Episode 3, and a delightful look back at an earlier, iconic Sanditon moment!

Behind the Scenes with Crystal Clarke

As viewers of Episode 2, we were just as entranced by the performance of
American diva Elizabeth Greenhorn as the rapt audience assembled on Sanditon's
beach. But for Georgiana, the performance inspired something even deeper and
more powerful. We asked Crystal Clarke about this beautiful moment, and she
explained, "At that point she's feeling very scared and unsure about what to do,
where to go, what's going to happen, and—I think for the first time in a long
time—feeling very weak and vulnerable. I would say she's felt that before, but
it's more of a helplessness. It hasn't before felt so much and so close to
everything being taken away from her. And then, seeing this woman, this woman of
color, this Black woman on stage, and all of this glamour and charisma, singing
this beautiful song on the beach at night, with some nice lighting—yes, it's
totally moving.

"And thinking about all of this stuff, her mom and everything else—it's a moment
of feeling not alone. She'd been feeling very much on her own, and this is a
moment where it's like, no, I'm not the only one. I can do this. There is still
a fire in me. And seeing her on the stage, with her fire in her belly, it's just
inspiration enough and so beautiful. So beautiful. We've all had that
moment—it's like when you're a kid and you look up to and you see someone, and
they inspire you. It's that kind of thing."
