Charlie Fisher * Home * Projects * Speaking Let's talk HI! 👋 I'M CHARLIE, A RESEARCHER AND URBAN-INSTIGATOR WORKING ON REGENERATIVE LAND USE APPROACHES AND MORE COLLABORATIVE AND EMBODIED FORMS OF CITY-MAKING. I LIVE IN BERLIN 🥨, BUT MOSTLY WORK ON PROJECTS IN DIGITAL SPACES. 🦹🏻 What I do 🧙🏻♂️ What I’ve done 🎤 Speaking 🏃🏻♂️ Training > I’m driven by the belief that to unlock collective imagination for equitable > societies we must remove structural barriers preventing people from connecting > with one another. …and we need to plant A LOT of trees 🌳 (or even better make > sure the older sequestration champs can keep growing) My role over the past decade has been to build capacities within land-based organisations, primarily around urban affordable housing and mechanisms for holding land in the commons. I write about, and run workshops on, group dynamics, decision-making, housing finance, incorporation approaches, legal structures, stakeholder mapping, business planning, and visioning. Over the years I’ve been involved in many highly credible, but ultimately unsuccessful, land bids for alternative urban visions and these have taught me a lot about what we’re up against. I’ve also been in a few that have succeeded! 🥳 This project experience has allowed me to develop expertise into long-term governance vehicles for transitioning and managing commons assets such as housing and other social goods. ‣ More about me… PRESENTATIONS AND SPEAKING Nov 22 - RIBA Guerrilla Tactics CPD - ‘Opportunities in community-led housing’ Nov 22 - Accidental Gods [Podcast] 🔗 Oct 22 - The Ownership Economy [Podcast] 🔗 Sep 22 - Regens Unite Berlin - Presentation on OASA and Traditional Dream Factory May 22 - Regens Unite Brussels - Presentation on Community Land Trusts and web3 Mar 22 - Oxford-Cambridge Arc Stewardship Event - Keynote (Slides) Jan 22 - UK Local Authorities CLH Working Group - Presentation on land stewardship and Garden Communities I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON: * Dark Matter Labs 🔗 Strategic Designer (April 2023- ) Contributing to projects on the future of property, Co-lead Civic Tech Studio ‣ Oasa 🔗 Founding Committee (Jan 2022- ) A Swiss Association which is developing Europe’s first blockchain-based regenerative ecovillages.
