PRIVILEGED ACCESS MANAGER SELF-HOSTED

Version 12.2

Release date: 15-Jul-2021  |  Updated on: 21-Nov-2023  |  Size: 15.15 GB  |
Long Term Support
LTS

CyberArk is proud to announce the next version of the Privileged Access Security
Solution, Version 12.2. This version improves the availability and performance
of SCIM integrations through cloud hosting via the CyberArk Identity service,
enables browser-based application logins for Business users, and introduces
enhancements to the CyberArk Telemetry tool.

Long Term Support (LTS) Designation: This version is designated as LTS as part
of CyberArk’s End of Life policy and schedule, available at CyberArk Docs.

Patch Updates: CyberArk has also announced several patches for components in
previous versions of the Privileged Access Security Solution. See below for more
information.

Simplification and Usability:

 * Cloud-service SCIM support: This version introduces new SCIM (System for
Cross-domain Identity Management) support provided through the CyberArk
Identity cloud service to facilitate integrations between PAM and Identity
   Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions.
   * SCIM integration between PAM and IGA solutions enables centralized,
policy-based lifecycle management for all identities, including privileged
     human and machine identities.
   * The new cloud-hosted approach improves availability and performance while
reducing required footprint in customer environments.
   * Note: this capability is limited to customers with specific Identity or
Identity Security Offering licenses. Contact your account team for more
     information.
 * Offline Access to Privileged Accounts via CyberArk Mobile App:
   * Utilizing the CyberArk Mobile app, customers can now access privileged
accounts and credentials, in the event that the user has no connectivity.
CyberArk admins can designate accounts to which end users have permissions
for offline access. The mobile app securely stores credentials, protected
     with multi-factor and biometric authentication.
   * Note: this capability is limited to customers with specific licenses,
including our Identity Security Offerings or CyberArk Remote Access.
Contact your account team for more information.
 * CyberArk Telemetry Tool now reports on Secrets Management: The CyberArk
Telemetry tool, which provides user friendly dashboards to help customers
track component utilization, compliance status of managed credentials, and
license utilization for their PAM deployments, now reports on new metrics,
including the deployed and licensed credential providers and counts for
application secrets retrieved from the CyberArk Vault.
   * The CyberArk Telemetry Tool is available in the CyberArk Marketplace for
simple, self-service installation on a server hosting CyberArk Password
Vault Web Access (PVWA) or Central Policy Manager (CPM).
 * UI Enhancements: This version introduces several user interface enhancements,
   including:
   * Streamlined look and feel: We have modernized the look and feel of our PVWA
UI to align with CyberArk’s transition to a single, unified user interface
     for all solutions.
   * New Safes UI: Version 12.2 introduces a new UI to simplify PAM
administrator processes for managing Safes in the CyberArk Digital Vault.
     Key updates include:
   * A complete list of Safes and assigned Central Policy Manager (CPM) servers
   * A single display to manage Safe details and users
   * Comprehensive management of permissions for users with Safe access
 * Global PSM setting Default Connection Method: This version introduces a
global default setting that eliminates the need to manually configure
connection methods (RDP or HTML5 Gateway) on all account platforms. PAM
administrators benefit from simplified workflows while retaining the ability
   to use either connection method.
 * Enhancements for large-scale Privileged Session Manager deployments: Several
updates improve flexibility in large-scale PSM deployments, including reduced
storage requirements, custom recording paths and automatic clean-up of
unnecessary storage for PSM shadow users (saving up to 100mb of storage, the
default for each PSM shadow user session).

New Security Capabilities:

 * Browser-based logins for Business users: In this version, the CyberArk
Identity service browser extension streamlines login to web applications for
business users and eliminates the need to use additional password managers
for these users. Without installing agents, business users can leverage
password auto-capture and form-fill capabilities to launch applications from
their browser extension, or the Identity SSO User Portal and CyberArk Mobile
   App.
   * Note: the current Business Users module in the CyberArk web portal (PVWA)
will no longer be available starting in the next version.
   * Note: this capability is limited to customers with specific add-on licenses
for business users. Contact your account team for more information.
 * Credential Management for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) IAM users with MFA
enabled: A new Central Policy Manager (CPM) plugin enables secure management
of credentials for GCP IAM users, including those with MFA enabled. This
integration is available in the CyberArk Marketplace.

Automation & Deployment

Vault deployment on Windows Server 2019: The CyberArk Digital Vault now supports
deployment on the Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Data Center edition OS.

 * Note: Support covers Standalone Vault, DR Vault and Cluster Vault.
Distributed Vaults and cloud deployment images are not yet available for
   Windows 2019.
 * REST API Enhancements: To facilitate more efficient User and Safe Management
processes, new and improved REST APIs collectively enable automated:
   * Retrieval and update of details on a Safe, a Safe’s Members, or overall
users and groups Management of Safes and Safe Members

Recommendations: CyberArk recommends that all customers review the release notes
prior to upgrading their software.

CyberArk recommends any customers experiencing issues outlined in recent
security bulletins and release notes upgrade to Version 12.2 or apply these
patches.
