TIPS FOR HOMESCHOOLING TWINS

By Heather on January 12, 2013 in blog, Homeschool

Homeschooling twins is both the greatest experience, and also the most
challenging. I think it is safe to say that I have done most everything wrong
before I did it right. The twins started doing pre-k work last year, and we are
half way through our kindergarten year now.

The biggest thing to remember is that even though they are twins, they are not
the same person. I know, you are their mother and no one knows that as well as
you. However, when it comes to school it can be easy to try and stuff them into
the same mould. I know when we first started, and even some at the beginning of
this year, I bought them the exact same style of curriculum. They did everything
together at the same time. Not that there is anything wrong with that if it
works for you. For us it didn’t. My boys couldn’t be more opposite. If ones
chooses blue PariMatch apk, the other chooses purple. If one wants chicken, the
other wants a hamburger. So naturally when it came to how they learn, they are
pretty different in that as well.

Let your twins be different. Just because they look alike doesn’t mean they
learn alike. One of my boys’ excels in reading, and the other in math. One may
have to take a week longer on that concept. It is ok. Don’t feel like they
always have to stay together.

The second most important thing is to teach them separately when they are on
different levels. I found that when I taught them together, the one having a
hard time became more frustrated when they felt they had to live up to what the
other one was doing. Now instead of making everything a group lesson we do Math
and Reading separate. We still are able to do many things together like History,
Science, and Bible. That may change later, but for now it is what is working for
us. They enjoy their individual time with me, and I enjoy getting to teach them
without the frustration of comparison.

What have you found to work well with your multiples?

By Heather on January 10, 2013 in blog, Faith & Friends Fridays

If you are looking for a book that will help to change the way you look at your
purpose…. I have the perfect book club for you. Jennifer A Janes and I are
hosting Faith and Friends Friday at Creation Conversations. For the new year we
thought we would try something new. This past week we launched our first ever
book club. We will be reading through Great for God.

I don’t know about you, but it isn’t enough for me just to go through the
motions of daily routine. I know that I was put on this earth for such a time is
this. We each have a call and a purpose from God. It isn’t a coincidence that
you are where you are doing what you are doing. He has a plan and it is perfect.
It may not always be what we had in mind, but in my experience, it is always
better in the end. There may be some tough times and some rocky roads, but just
hang tight. Victory is right on the other side.

Great for God is accounts of different missionaries who lived their lives great,
not for themselves, but for our creator. I have so many things stirring inside
me for this new year. I know God has big plans, and I can’t wait to see how it
all unfolds. If you are needing a boost of faith, come and join us.

This week we are even launching a giveaway. Master Books has been so generous as

AWESOME SCIENCE REVIEW

By Heather on January 9, 2013 in blog, Reviews, Reviews & Giveaways

With homeschooling 4 kiddos, I am always looking for products that will make
learning fun. Being a part of the Moms of Master Books has introduced me to some
incredible resources for my kids. I love products that are faith based, so that
I don’t have to worry about what is being introduced to their little ears.

There are 3 new Awesome Science DVD’s for 2013. I was sent Explore Yosemite and
Zion National Parks. Each video is only 30 minutes, but the amount of
information that is packed into those 30 minutes is amazing. We have already
watched this one 3 different times, and each time every one of us is grasping
something new. It is a great video to plug in, and then discuss together as a
family.

I would encourage you to purchase the study guide to go along with your DVD, it
is a great help for me. I don’t know about you, but most of the time videos such
as these really spark questions from my little ones. And they aren’t always easy
ones! I love being able to have the study guide to pull information from when
those questions arise.

My favorite part of this series is that is made from a like minded perspective.
You won’t find any hidden agendas in them. There aren’t any hidden plugs for
evolution. Everything is faith based, and from a Biblical perspective. In this
episode of the series you will learn how the flood
www.dream-trading.co.za/melbet-promo-code-and-deposit-bonus is what formed both
Yosemite and Zion. It didn’t take millions of years like secular scientist would
have you think. Watch the short clip below to see just a portion of what you
will find in Explore Yosemite and Zion Nation Parks from Awesome Science.

JOIN THE MOM’S OF MASTER BOOKS FOR A BOOK AND A BITE FACEBOOK PARTY!
