WHO WE ARE

Established in 1998, the Siemens Foundation has invested $150 million in the
United States to support the development of U.S. workers by scaling
best-practices and investing in workforce training and education. Our goal is a
more just and equitable society. Through partnerships with national
organizations, we work to improve individual lives and local communities.

$30 million initiative to drive inclusive workforce development in the electric
vehicle charging sector.  EVeryone Charging Forward™ is creating pathways to

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

The Siemens Foundation launched its workforce development efforts in 2015 to
help close the opportunity gap for young adults in STEM technical careers. 
Leveraging the experience and expertise of Siemens as an industry leader and
pioneer in workforce development, the Foundation identified this crucial area as
a place where we can have an important impact on America's workforce.

EVeryone Charging Forward™ is creating pathways to well-paying, sustainable jobs
in the EV charging sector for individuals from underrepresented communities.

 

The program was created in response to the rapid growth of the EV charging
sector due to both public and private investment, resulting in significant
demand for skilled workers across the industry. With this workforce development
initiative, Siemens Foundation seeks to ensure and scale equitable access to
jobs for individuals from all backgrounds and meaningfully contribute to
decarbonization and strengthening of the U.S. economy.

 

Inaugural workforce development partners include North Carolina Business
Committee for Education, the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program,
the National League of Cities Institute, and the National Governors
Association's Center for Best Practices.

STATE AND LOCAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE WORKFORCE COLLABORATIVE CONVENING KICKS OFF

To help cities and states achieve the full promise of investments in EV
charging, the National Governors Association and the National League of Cities
partnered to launch the State and Local Collaborative to Support an Inclusive
Workforce for the Electric Vehicle Charging Sector led by a taskforce of leaders
spanning the EV adoption continuum.


SIEMENS FOUNDATION AWARDS $3M TO THE FAMILIES & WORKERS FUND TO SUPPORT
INDIVIDUALS PURSUING TRAINING IN THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING SECTOR

The Siemens Foundation  announced a $3M grant to the Families and Workers Fund's
(FWF) Powering Climate and Infrastructure Careers for All, a pooled fund to
leverage large-scale investments that ensure individuals from historically
marginalized communities have access to the clean economy. As part of the
Siemens Foundation’s EVeryone Charging Forward™ workforce development
initiative, the grant will ensure accessible career pathways for all in the
electric vehicle (EV) charging sector. 


EVITP AND MUST WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCE NEW "ELECTRIC FAST TRACK" WORK-BASED
LEARNING INITIATIVE

The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program and MUST Workforce
Solutions have partnered to provide EVITP Training & Certification for existing
qualified electricians and to engage traditionally underrepresented communities
through a unique "Electric Fast Track" paid career exploration program.

Matt Gandal’s article "Social Capital Is A Missing Ingredient In Most Education
Systems" (forbes.com) addresses the importance of supporting students in
building social capital in order to help young people from disadvantaged
backgrounds achieve economic mobility and how philanthropies, including the
Siemens Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, are helping
communities include social capital critical element of a high-quality career
pathway.                                                                       
                              The article provides a link to Education Strategy
Group's new framework, Cultivating Connections, that offers a roadmap for those
looking to help students better recognize, build, and leverage networks and
relationships.  


THE SIEMENS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCED THAT RUTH GRATZKE, PRESIDENT OF SIEMENS SMART
INFRASTRUCTURE U.S. AND CEO OF SIEMENS INDUSTRY, INC., HAS BEEN NAMED TO THE
SIEMENS FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

“Ruth’s strategic leadership and commitment to building a more sustainable world
will serve the Siemens Foundation exceptionally well,” said Barbara Humpton,
chair of the Siemens Foundation Board of Directors and CEO of Siemens USA.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ruth to the Board as we seek to advance an inclusive
approach to workforce development with a focus on sustainability.”
