Guest Lecturer: Lora Ellen Stevenson

Lecture Topic: How (and when) to take cuttings from different types of plants

Welcome to the Middle Tennessee Plant Swap website! We started as a group of
friendly folks that met on the online gardening forum GardenWeb more than 25
years ago, but since then we've become a community of plant lovers, gardeners,
and swappers from all parts of Tennessee (and even a few who travel from other
states). We get together twice a year in the spring and fall at Henry Horton
State Park, beside the beautiful Duck River in Chapel Hill, TN.

We all come together to swap plants, eat a delicious potluck, and enjoy great
fellowship. Besides all our swapping and eating, each spring we have a guest
speaker who teaches us something new. Past topics have included winter sowing,
composting, rooting plants using florist oasis, lasagna gardening, growing
native plants, daylily hybridizing, and how to make Hypertufa items for your
garden. At the fall swap, we change it up and have an auction full of
garden-related items to bid on (so bring your cash). Everyone is welcome to join
us at one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Beyond our in-person swap events, we have a very active Facebook group, where
you can learn all about our event and meet hundreds of experience Tennessee
gardeners, who are happy to share their garden pictures, their knowledge -- and
most of all -- their plants. Our event has been featured throughout the state of
Tennessee in newspapers and publications, as well as on NPT's Volunteer Gardener
television show.

Whether you come in spring or fall (or both), we guarantee you'll have the best
time!
