CABBAGE SEEDS FOR SALE BY GURNEY'S
Delicious raw or cooked, cabbage is a cool season vegetable that can be grown in
the spring and the fall. It's nutritious too. Low in calories, cabbage is loaded
with fiber, vitamin C and other nutrients. At Gurney's, we grow a lot of cabbage
varieties in our test gardens. Our cabbage seeds for sale represent the best
cabbage varieties in terms of taste, yields and garden performance.
CABBAGE VARIETIES: CHOOSING THE RIGHT CABBAGE SEEDS
When selecting the right cabbage seeds for your garden, keep in mind that
cabbage does not like hot summer temperatures. Depending on where you live, you
might want to grow an early maturing cabbage variety that will be ready for
harvest before the summer temperatures heat up. Also consider how much space you
have. Our Tiara Hybrid Cabbage Seed is perfect for those with limited space. If
you have lots of space and want to grow a lot of cabbage for sauerkraut or
kimchi, then select cabbage varieties that produce larger heads. You can also
choose a red cabbage or a Chinese cabbage.
GETTING STARTED WITH CABBAGE SEED
When growing cabbage in the spring garden, most gardeners start seeds indoors
and transplant the seedlings to the garden when the weather starts to warm. For
the fall garden, cabbage seeds can be directly sown into the garden, but most
gardeners prefer to start the seeds indoors in the summer.
WHEN TO PLANT CABBAGE SEEDS
When starting cabbage seeds indoors for spring planting, sow seeds about 6-8
weeks before the first frost-free date in your region. When starting cabbage
seeds for the fall garden, start seeds indoors in mid to late June, depending on
your growing region.
HOW TO PLANT CABBAGE SEEDS
Sow cabbage seeds according to the instructions on the seed packet. As a general
rule, cabbage seeds are planted 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. For more tips on starting

HOW TO GROW CABBAGE FROM SEED
Growing cabbage from seed requires no special heating mat like some garden
vegetables. The seeds will germinate at normal temperatures between 60 and 70
degrees F.
HOW TO HARVEST CABBAGE
To harvest cabbage heads, cut the cabbage head off just above the outer leaves
when the cabbage heads reach their mature size. Cabbage heads will sometimes
split as they are reaching their mature size, especially after a heavy rainfall.
HOW TO STORE CABBAGE
Cabbages can be stored for several months if kept in cool, moist conditions,
such as a root cellar. Refrigerators do not have high enough humidity levels for
proper, long-term cabbage storage. Traditionally, cabbage is stored through the
winter months by fermenting it. The European fermentation method is making it
into sauerkraut while the Asian fermentation method is making it into kimchi.

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet
Applications) technique, alongside various behavioral changes, to ensure blind
users visiting with screen-readers can read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s
functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they
immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can
browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of
the most important screen-reader requirements:
1. Screen-reader optimization: we run a process that learns the website’s
components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when
updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with
meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide

4. Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize essential elements such
as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered
elements only.
5. Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other
issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the
entire website instantly.
6. Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine linked to Wikipedia and
Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of
phrases, initials, slang, and others.
7. Additional functions – we allow users to change cursor color and size, use a
printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.
Assistive technology and browser compatibility
We aim to support as many browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so
our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as
possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major
