BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

Very often we receive the question, what is the best time to visit Tanzania?
Like everywhere else in the World, every country in Africa has different seasons
and weather patterns. There are never ‘bad’ times to go on safari but depending
on your own wishes, there might be ‘better’ times to meet your expectations.
Generally June – October are known as the dry season months in sub-Saharan
Africa and often considered as the ‘best’ times to go on safari. In the dry
season it’s easier to sport the animals because they are concentrated in the
areas where they can find water. However the wet season, November – April also
has its benefit, it’s less hot and dusty and landscapes are turning green, which
allows you to take very bright pictures. Don’t worry about rains too much
because it doesn’t rain the whole day.

GETTING TO TANZANIA

Getting to Tanzania is not difficult. There are many airlines offering daily
flights to various airports within the country and neighbor. The most common
inbound airports in Tanzania are:

 * Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) – Arusha
 * Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) – Dar es Salaam
 * Zanzibar International Airport (ZIA) – Zanzibar

You can also fly through our neighbor country Kenya.

 * Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) – Nairobi, where you can connect a
   flight or take a public shuttle from Nairobi to Arusha or Moshi

WHAT TO PACK?

This is also a question we often receive from your quests. It all depends on the
activities you are going to do, but the most important tip to give you is that
your luggage should fit in comfortably into a so called soft bag and if your
itinerary includes a transport in one of the tinny domestic airplanes it should
weigh not more than 15 kg. Another tip is that the colours of your clothing are
not bright because they will attract bugs but also might scare larger animals.
Bring comfortable shoes, plenty of sun cream, mosquito repellent, sunglasses and
a hat, and if you are ending your safari with some nights on the beach, don’t
forget to bring your swimming costume. In your hand luggage we recommend to pack
your camera equipment, spare batteries and some important documentation such as
your passport, flight tickets and medication. Although it might get hot during
day time but during the nights it can become very chilly and therefore we
recommend you to bring a warm sweater or vest without forgetting to bring a pair
of binoculars.

We were looking for a budget package to Northern Tanzania parks and we really
found a great company that made us feel like royalty despite being on a budget
package. I could hardly believe the level of comfort in our accoms at Planet
Lodge Arusha, Lake Burunge in Tarangire, Country Lodge in Karatu and Thorn tree
in the Serengeti. They were really sort of luxury serving excellent dishes,
sumptuous breakfast and even had provisions for my sister who is a
lacto-vegetarian.

7 DAYS OF ADVENTURE IN TANZANIA

We were a group of 4 consisting of my wife, myself and my 2 brothers went on a
7day Northern Tanzania Safari and 4 days Zanzibar holiday with Simba Adventures.
I was handling the booking process for the group and found communications and
payments terms very easy. This was our first time in Africa and we had the time
of our lives in the parks. Our guide Benson was very good. He could see the
animals before we did and by the we completed our safari we had seen so many
different species of birds and animals.

WONDERFUL TANZANIA SAFARI

We did a wonderful safari to Tanzania with Simba Adventures a fantastic local
tour operator. Our drive guide Emmanuel was very competent, knowledgeable and
always so punctual. He kept the Landcruiser very clean, well stocked with cold
water and sodas which were always a relief in the hot sunny game drives. He was
also very good in spotting the animals, also drove carefully not to spook the
animals when we got close to them. We were hosted in great accomms during the
whole trip with good staff and great food.

FIVE STAR SAFARI!!!

During the 8 days of our safari we visited Tarangiri, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro
and Serengeti we have nothing but positive words from the wonderful experience
we had in these parks with our amazing guide Emmanuel. He drove and attended to
all our needs very well. His experience and motivation came through as we
managed to see all the animals that we were hoping to see and much more. It was
a wholesome experience of enjoying wonderful views in great company and then
spending the evenings pampered with luxurious service in lodges we were staying
in.
