Casey holds a BFA from OCAD University, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Design Strategy from the Institute without Boundaries, and a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Design Strategy from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) Dun Laoghaire in Ireland. Casey is a guest lecturer and thesis advisor at IADT MA Design for Change students and sits on the Board of Directors for the innovative Toronto-based arts organization Art Spin. Her experience includes post-secondary international relations work, brand strategy, writing, design research and strategy at the intersections of people, city-building and culture. Casey has spent her career using strategic, creative and participatory design tools to listen, tell stories and create people-focused and meaningful outcomes. She’s a creative problem-solver, and her design-based approach has helped her clients understand and connect with the people they serve and develop responsive solutions to complex problems. She’s planned, produced and managed large-scale and complex design strategy and research projects across sectors. Her clients have included municipalities big and small, emerging and established brands and companies, city-builders and educational and cultural institutions. SERVICES * STRATEGIC PLANNING The process of strategic planning is as important as the outcome. Strategic engagement, qualitative and quantitative research, and creative approaches build relationships, foster community, and surface meaningful insights to plan for the future and develop a road map to get there. * SERVICE & EXPERIENCE DESIGN Design tools like journey maps, personas and future scenarios help to identify, define and visualize complex problems, and prototype and test possible solutions. Participatory and co-design methods invite clients and users into the process for meaningful and implementable solutions. * ENGAGEMENT & FACILITATION Successful projects that offer impactful solutions understand that the end-users must be engaged as a part of the design process. Participatory design and engagement focus on tools that centre people and listen first. Tools including creative and co-design workshops, surveys, focus groups, interviews and public meetings that are designed to be equitable and lower barriers to participation for those they intend to reach to bring a diversity of voices to the table are essential. * DESIGN RESEARCH Solving problems requires understanding them. Design research approaches combine mixed methods with approaches that prioritize people. These can include engagement, participatory design, trend analysis, market research, environmental scans and case studies, and future forecasting. * BRAND STRATEGY A successful brand is more than just a logo—it’s a system built on a strategic foundation that defines a brand's vision, mission, values, tone, and personality. A strong brand strategy can help companies and organizations identify gaps and opportunities in the landscape, define their niche, scale up to reach new or broader audiences, and galvanize goals by aligning internal teams around a shared vision for the future. * WRITING & STORYTELLING Translating sector and project-specific language to diverse audiences is necessary to build relationships, communicate change and generate excitement. Strong messaging and storytelling for strategic projects, brands, editorial content, reports and communications support the long-term success and impacts of your project.
