Glen started learning about blueberries in the 8th grade working at a family
farm in Indiana.  His older brother planted the blueberries, and Glen started
working with him in the patch pulling weeds.

In 1966, the blueberry patch in Indiana started producing, and there were more
berries than the family could handle.  Glen moved back home to help his brother
and mother with the farm, and he learned even more about blueberries.

Year later, after moving to Kentucky and working as a  rural letter carrier,
Glen found land for sale in Dexter on the mail route.  It was the opportunity
for a dream come true.  Tina, his wife, was reluctant at first and didn't want
to sign the deed, but after a "mutual agreement," they bought the land for The
Berry Patch.

During the early days, Glen  and Tina grew their own  plants from cuttings off
those blueberry plants started in Northern Indiana that Glen helped with growing
up.  It seemed that they started The Berry Patch from just twigs.  Together,
Glen and Tina picked up the shovel and hoe and started with a few acres of
blueberry shrubs.  Within three years, the plants could produce fruit.  And
today with the years of patience and love The Berry Patch has matured into the
great place it is today.

Along the way as The Berry Patch grew, Americans were told that blueberries were
good for them; that they have more antioxidants than 39 other fruits and
vegetables.  What news!

Only 1 cup of berries each day will slow down your aging process and reverse the
loss of short term memory as we age.  One of the berry pickers, a dietician,
explained that the lycopenes in the blueberries protect our hearts and can lower
the rate of cancer for everyone.  Now isn't that nice. 

Every year Glen and Tina try to make The Berry Patch better and offer the best
quality blueberries.  This year offered 35 different varieties of blueberries,
featuring the best quality blueberries and the ideal varieties to grow in our
West Kentucky climate.  Because of Glen's boldness in trying new things, don't
be surprised to see a few experiments underway in The Berry Patch.  He'll be
glad to tell you what's new.

Over the years, so many nice people have come to pick our berries. Glen and Tina
welcome children as some of their favorite people who come to see the wonder of
blueberries growing in the summer sun.  Grown as purely as possible without
chemicals,  these blueberries are some of the best you can find.  They are fun
to pick with the anticipation of eating them later!

Glen and Tina's lives have been enriched as they have pursued their passion for
blueberries and healthily living.  They hope you will enjoy visiting The Berry
Patch and making some new friends, too.

 Our Beloved Southern
Blueberry Cobbler

1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1 to 2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups blueberries

Melt butter in a large baking pan (9"x 13") Mix sugar, flour, milk, and cinnamon
together then pour over melted butter.  Spread 2 cups of blueberries over the
top of the batter.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until golden and
crispy around the edges.
