Introducing...

The Nightlife Safety Summit

*open to the entire electronic music community, regardless of genre

We, at Four 4 Consent, believe that you already know the answer to the question,
“How do I make nightlife safer and more accessible to all?” Unfortunately,
members of the electronic music industry are uncertain of how to tap into that
intuition, have not been empowered to discuss violence in nightlife, and are
unsure how their approach will impact the existing dynamics around them.

Four 4 Consent is proud to present our inaugural Nightlife Safety Summit, a
year-long program designed to engage and educate the electronic music industry
on how to create safer live music experiences for professionals and fans alike.
Seventy- two of our ambassadors will be taken from the Midwest and East coast
regions combined, and the other seventy-two will be exclusively representing Los
Angeles county (whether they work or live there or are affiliated with those who
work there).

A proactive approach to safer nightlife experiences is not only the right thing
to do, but is also good for business.

The Nightlife Safety Summit will meet virtually once a month and ambassadors
will have the opportunity to create a safer cultural foundation for your future
in the music industry, and all those around you.

Our goal is to provide the electronic music industry with scene-specific
education on nightlife safety with an emphasis on preventing sexual harassment
and assault. Ambassadors will learn language to express their intuition and
strategies to approach nightlife violence within the scope of their already
existing roles in the music industry. Through education, language, and proven to
work strategies we can shift the culture and lower the risk factors associated
with participating in nightlife.

Ambassadors will be able to apply their intuition and strategies learned from
Four 4 Consent to real life scenarios collectively experienced by our industry
and scenarios brought to the Nightlife Safety Summit by fellow ambassadors. They
will also network with like minded music industry folks and experienced violence
prevention advocates and other credentialed leaders in the movement. This will
ultimately empower ambassadors to act in ways that align with their values and
does not perpetrate future harm.

We want to increase the number of people that know about ways they can show up
within the nightlife and music industry to make a difference.

Last year, the team at GOODtv teamed up with Four 4 Consent for a weekend of
nightlife violence prevention education and digital dance floor vibes. From
industry roundtables to bystander intervention, and many topics in between, we
covered many ways to make a difference with the help of GOODtv's "stramfam" and
they made a huge impact on the success of our organizational goals for 2021
through the funds they raised!

"[We] wanted to start the Nightlife Safety Summit program after so many
individuals reached out to Four 4 Consent about wanting to make a difference in
nightlife, but some of them did not have their entire team's support. In some
organizations, barriers occur to making changes, whether they cannot come up
with funding or there are people on their staff who do not view ending sexual
harassment and violence as a priority. We created this program to help those
without the ability to hire our team make a difference in the situations and
dynamics they had around them. Many people in the music industry feel like they
are alone in wanting to take a stand against those committing abuse against
others. Some of the industry feel like they have no power to make a difference
because most music highly regards the same people causing harm. Someone's
top-of-the-charts release shouldn't excuse them from being accountable. Four 4
Consent and the Nightlife Safety Summit are here to help the industry make a
difference, from the dance floors to DJ booths!"

Industry SOLUTIONS

Our team brings experience and education directly from the music industry to the
table. We know that nightlife and music bring so many unique challenges, and
many of us don't have the ability to report or "work things out with HR" when
people cause harm like other industries many be able to do. Our goal is to
believe, support and empower each participant so they know their choices, and
can pursue whatever they self-determine to be best for them.

QUALIFIED EDUCATORS

F4C was built upon the teachings of bar outreach regarding drug and alcohol
facilitated sexual violence, and expanded through proven prevention strategies,
including (but not limited to) bystander intervention. Our knowledge of
prevention and awareness created the framework to develop curriculum that could
be applied to music venues, and festivals alike. Our commitment to Nationally
Credentialed Advocates is only one standard we hold as imperative.

shifting the culture

Making changes to help lower risk factors for attendees is not just the right
thing to do, but it is also good for business. Fans not only want to have a
great time, but they also want to feel safe and connected to the artists, venues
and events they attend. Attending training n how you can make a difference helps
create a safer cultural foundation for your future in the music industry, and
all those around you.

NIGHTLIFE safety summit frequently asked questions

How many ambassadors will be chosen for the Nightlife Safety Summit?

Four 4 Consent will be selecting 140+ ambassadors, with 72 affiliated to Los
Angeles County and 72 non-Los Angeles County affiliated ambassadors (with a
focus on the Mid West and East Coast).

Each area will have 36 male-identifying participants and 36 non-male identifying
participants. All gender identities are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
Participants will self-select their cohort. Breakdowns were determined based
upon the sensitive nature of our programming based upon potential experiences of
harm received. Program breakdowns will be further detailed in applications.

Why are cohorts broken into male-identifying and non-male-identifying groups?

At Four 4 Consent we recognize and celebrate all sexualities, gender identities,
and other ways participants express and identify themselves. From our research
and experience working in sexual violence, many survivors have shared they feel
most comfortable discussing experiences that are theirs in groups that are
separated by gender identity. In this research and experience, a common theme
emerged between non-male identifying experiences of sexual violence and
harassment and those that male-identifying survivors of sexual violence and
harassment have each experienced. To allow for optimal comfortability during the
sensitive nature of some of the content discussed in the Nightlife Safety
Summit, participants will be asked to self-identify into a male-identifying
cohort and a non-male identifying cohort. We recognize that this breakdown is
imperfect, and encourage gender-non-conforming participants to select which
cohort they feel meets their needs and comfortability based upon this informed
consent disclosure outlined here. We hope to be able to offer additional
programming focused on gender non-conforming experiences in the future.

What is the needed time commitment to be a part of the Nightlife Safety Summit?

For twelve months, each ambassador will be responsible for making a two-hour
meeting (participants will select what days and times work best for them in the
application process and keep the same schedule throughout the program).
Participants must be able to attend 10 of the 12 sessions for successful
completion of the program.

If you'd like to build skills and learn even more, we will be going deeper with
participants that request us to do so!

Two hours a month doesn't feel like enough. How do I go deeper with the
Nightlife Safety Summit?

We highly encourage (but do not require) ambassadors opt-in to "going deep" with
us outside of these sessions for six additional hours a month. Doing so will
give the participants various activities to complete that help build a deeper
understanding of materials and implementation, as well as reflection. Activities
are on the participant's own time and schedule, and include but are not limited
to: participating in our community discord, talking to friends about the
program, watching approved movies or media and completing reflections,
completing proposed activities and more.

All participants that go deeper with F4C and are US citizens are eligible to
receive the President's Volunteer Service Award in recognition of their
completion of 100 hours spent on this program.

What makes your agency different than other organizations in this field?

Many agencies that are in the anti-violence movement, more specifically the
sexual anti-violence movement, are focused and funded by placing an emphasis on
what occurs after sexual violence to help care for and assist survivors.

Our agency places our emphasis on prevention, through working with event
organizers, or other groups, to find the best real-world solutions adapted to
their specific needs and concerns.

In addition, our core team has a vast set of backgrounds and areas of expertise
- read more on that in the questions below!

What expertise and education does Four 4 Consent bring to the table?

Our founding team members offer a diverse range of backgrounds consisting of a
Nationally Credentialed Victim Advocate; a graduate of Columbia Chicago’s Music
Business Management Program; and a Licensed Professional Counselor that has
worked with survivors and perpetrators of violence. Our lead program educator is
a Men Can Stop Rape certified group facilitator. Every additional Nightlife
Violence Prevention Advocate is Nationally Credentialed.

That's great, but what does Four 4 Consent know about the music industry
specifically?

At Four 4 Consent, we aren't just fans of music! We have seen the industry ins
and outs up close and have experience navigating these difficult situations and
circumstances in many capacities and roles.

The team at Four 4 Consent has over 30 years of experience spent working in the
music industry.

Our staff has worked in a variety of areas in music from experience at industry
top record labels including landing featured soundtracks at Netflix to music
industry journalism, to running booths and managing teams from EDC Las Vegas to
boutique festivals. We have team members with artist management experience, as
well have those with talent booking, venue operations, stage management, tour
management, artist transportation, social media management (for DJs, Producers,
and record labels), and ticketing experience. Additionally, we have DJs and
Producers on our team, event organizers, podcast and interview hosts, and even
music industry photography and design experience in our corner (graphic design
and web design).

How much is it to join the Nightlife Safety Summit with

Four 4 Consent?

Our newly launched ambassador program, the Nightlife Safety Summit, suggests a
$25.00/monthly donation during the program (12 months) per program participant.

Some scholarships are available to prioritize program participants that would
have an undue financial hardship placed upon them with the suggested donation
cost. Our goal is to make the program accessible to a diverse group of
participants.

Additionally, program participants with ties to Los Angeles County receive full
scholarships to cover the cost of their training and education.

What does that mean? If an applicant lives in, works in, or is part of a team
that lives, works, or travels to work (within the year previous or this year),
the Nightlife Safety Summit is available to you at no suggested cost (although
we do appreciate donations and can use them to provide scholarships to other
applicants).

Additionally, we are seeking corporate sponsorship to help with the support and
implementation of this program.

How can my company sponsor the Nightlife Safety Summit with

Four 4 Consent?

Presently we are looking for corporations and other businesses that understand
the link between nightlife and attendees' ability to express themselves through
music and dance.

Our organization is best in alignment with businesses that understand making
nightlife safer isn't just good for their bottom line, and for patron safety,
but it's also the right thing to do for the future!

Send us an email at ready@four4consent.org

I would like to make a large donation to further the Nightlife Safety Summit.
Can I make this confidentially and without sponsorship?

We understand that some donors may have specific needs or limitations
surrounding their private views and where they choose to place their financial
resources. Your needs and experience surrounding this are valid.

To place a large anonymous donation, please reach out to
donations@four4consent.org. For all other donations, please follow the link

"I remember when it hit me how prevalent sexual violence was in the United
States. It felt like an obvious opportunity to build upon my existing training,
education and experience and redesign a program to fit the industries where I
spent the most time outside of my home-music and nightlife. We have the
capability to do better! At the base level, I believe people should feel

my expectations during their time at our organization, and any organization is
lucky to have Kay on their staff."

Experience working with survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner sexual
violence, and human trafficking

"Kay provides client centered and trauma informed advocacy to survivors of
sexual assault and their support people... Kay's clients have included survivors
of intimate partner sexual violence, non-intimate partner sexual violence, and
human trafficking. Oftentimes the survivors she works with identify as surviving
multiple forms of trauma and victimizations. Kay is very knowledgeable in the
effects of trauma and strives to continue their education by attending many in
person and online trainings...

Kay works to promote self-determination by providing clients with tools and
resources to make their own decisions.

Kay attends collaboration meetings, facilitates presentations to other entities,
and completes outreach to underserved areas in order to share education and
awareness about sexual assault and our agency's service and mission.

It is clear that Kay provides these services without judgment and with a passion
for advocacy and working towards ending sexual violence."

Kay does an amazing job fostering a warm and safe environment that allows
clients to not only discuss trauma, but to heal from it

"As a co-facilitator with Kay... I have witnessed Kay's work with clients
firsthand. During group sessions, Kay displays empathy and understanding, as
well as a vast knowledge of trauma and sexual assault dynamics. Kay does an
amazing job fostering a warm and safe environment that allows clients to not
only discuss trauma, but to heal from it. Kay is is also very knowledgeable and
resourceful, providing clients with referrals when needed, as well as providing
and articulating trauma and sexual assault education to clients when
appropriate. Kay is very professional, and always acts in the client's best
interest when providing services

Kay is also extremely helpful to other staff and team members. Kay is
consistently sharing resources and training opportunities with staff, as well as
having discussions and processing how we can all provide services to clients in
a more effective way. Kay holds a very high professional and ethical standard
that is apparent in her work with clients, as well as in her professional
relationships with staff.

Kay's passion and skills when it comes to victim advocacy are apparent, in the
amazing work that Kay does every day with survivors..."

A Call for Accountability

"...uses phrases like 'real victim(s)' and 'real sexual violence.' The United
States has a history of law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, jurors, and beyond
making decisions about what constitutes real sexual violence, that has continued
to deny survivors of sexual violence any form of justice from within the system.
Police reports since before the 1970s have contained problematic language to
diminish the credibility of victims of sexual violence (5). These reports and
interactions are then used to determine whether or not the state brings forward
a case against the listed perpetrator. This means that individuals that did not
fit into the stereotype of an ideal victim likely will never see their day in
court."

Consent in Music

"A lover of the House and Techno scene, Kay wanted to begin there and created
the group known as Four 4 Consent stemming from the 4/4 beats found in House
music measures. Brown feels that bars, clubs, venues, and festivals can learn
