in order to navigate the healthcare system of today, you need an advocate by
your side.



my name is Emily Bernstein. I can use my experience in intercultural
communication, customer service, and navigating my mom's cancer diagnosis to
translate your health journey to make it make sense to you!

NEW DIAGNOSIS

when you get big medical news, it can be overwhelming, no matter what the news
is. I will help you research what it means for you - in your REAL life, not just
in the doctor's office or hospital, but at home.


BILLING

did you know that over 80% of medical bills include some mistake? did that last
bill seem off to you? I can help tackle the full-time job that is fighting
insurance and making sure you don't pay more than you have to.


FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

most people aren't aware, but all non-profit hospitals are required (by the ACA)
to have a financial assistance policy. if you have a medical bill that you
cannot pay, I can help you find out if you qualify to get some - or possibly all
- of it waived!


RESEARCH

understanding a diagnosis or test result can take time. I have the training -
and the time - to figure out what your doctors is saying...in language that is
much easier to understand.


MEDICAL RECORDS

Medicine relies extensively on what doctors put on paper. I will help you
collect all of the important information and put it in one place, so you don't
have to worry.


DECISION MAKING

sometimes, making the right decision is hard - especially when you are so
involved in the situation. i have been there, and can provide an objective,
educated and experienced opinion to help you make the best choices.


CULTURAL TRAINING

sometimes, the cultural world of medicine in the united states doesn't mix well
with your culture. if you need help bridging the divide, I can help you
translate information, understand what you need to, and make sure your needs are
met and your voice is heard.


CARE MANAGEMENT

Complicated medical journeys involve a lot of different people and specialties.
It can be hard to track who does what - and, most importantly, who to ask which
questions. I can help you organize all of your medical journey to keep it on
track.

completion and submission, administrative follow-up 

DOCTOR OR APPOINTMENT VISIT

you only have 15 minutes with your doctor; make sure you get the most of it!
includes visit prep, insurance coverage review, attendance at the appointment
(in person or via phone/video), post-visit review and research, follow-up. 

MEDICAL BILL REVIEW
